They gave away half of Lancashire for a lark at the same time, I think.

Yes, but to Cheshire, what was the point of that?

And they smooshed Cumberland and Westmorland into Cumbria!

But most egregiously they gave Yorkshire a fourth Riding (the South) to go with the North, East and West Ridings. So what? you might say. Well, dummy, Ridings means “thirds”, so since then there have been four thirds of Yorkshire.

I suppose it was a compliment, really.

Mind, in return for messing us about like that, they took Middlesbrough out of Yorkshire altogether and gave it its own little pretend county, Cleveland. Sort of made up for it.

Has Merseyside always been a county? Did Liverpool not used to be in Lancashire?

Fuck off MacReady you crazy Canuck.
Go start a Rugby - or better yet, a ice hockey or log running - thread and don't pollute the footy thread with egg ball.

And he keeps writing "goalie"! Tell it to Patrick Roy, xebec!

Ridiculous VAR decision in the Lester-Spuds game. Son's arm appeared to be 1mm offside. They drew the lines on the screen and took ages to decide. May as well just play games on a computer now and save everyone the effort. It's rubbish how they are applying it.

Just another team lying down against Abu Dhabi and not even trying. Embarrassing for them and "the greatest league in the world".

Thread Favorites Citeh become quite clayfoot-like when it comes to "crushing" their Champions League opponents...even when playing another England-based team.

"Pep's Genius", indeed.

Sanchez Flores may have been better sticking with the adage "Never go back. Never surrender your memories to the future".

(Or whatever it is!)

Meanwhile, in real football land, I was out and about over lunchtime (Wetherby was in lockdown for some bastard cycling race so we headed out to York to miss it all) but was following by iPhone and was pleased to go one up and cheesed off to miss a penalty. It was pretty obvious that we’d concede at that point despite dominating and sure enough we did. A cruel blow but to put it into perspective Swansea also drew so we’re still top top top of the league!

Newcastle brighton as u would expect. 63min 0 0 lot of huff n puff n half chances. Game ragged and sloppy but not much sign of a goal.

Yah, it was. Boundaries have probably changed loads of times to be honest. Technically where i live back home it's greater Manchester but lots of people still put Lancashire on their postal address or both.

I had Citeh down as a 6-0 win but they outdid even that. Watford are abysmal since they lost that cup final.

Shame Bolton conceded a 93rd minute penalty, but it's still great. 1-1 v Sunderland is no disgrace. There's definite forward momentum, we seem to defend better and try to play football and attack. And this is with loan players and kids. So i think the manager is right for the job, he seems to be getting the best he can out of them. Was expecting a 3-0 loss. I think we are destined for relegation but it's all about setting up for next year, really.

Saw Brighton v Newcastle. Newcastle were mostly awful. Brighton should have been 2-0 up in the first half but really barely made any clearcut chances. They'll be disappointed not to win it. Newcastle had a good-ish last ten minutes but some of their players appear not to know when to pass a ball and certainly can't cross or shoot.

Citeh goals: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ne3Uze6kBs

Unbelievably awful defending by Watford at almost every level.

VAR is nonsensical. There was no clear advantage to Son to disallow his goal. Then, in the Everton game, Sheffield United half a player CLEARLY backing into the goalie pushing him away from connecting with the ball but the goal is allowed. If VAR is so ineptly used you may as well just go back to not having it.

In La Liga, newly promoted Granada beat Barcelona 2-0, and moved into top spot. Barca currently lie seventh. Manager Valverde under severe pressure. And so is Zidane!
