Fake time lapse. Usually during a scary action scene, where everything goes dark and silent in the middle of the action. Then the shot fades back in, its hours later and we're to guess how or why the threat went away.

Characters having an argument in an a car and saying "let me out here" suddenly. Regardless of where they are.

You'd think at least one wouldthen go, "actually not here, there's no way home from here and I'm not entirely are where I am. maybe just down the road a bit ".

Exactly. I would never want to get out of a car where there were no other options to make it home.

If you're hitchhiking and the driver asks you for a blowjob, it makes perfect sense. Unless you're up for that. wink

The Slo Mo Stroll of (usually) the Good Guys into the scene, typically striding side-by-side, with the appropriate overhyped theme/rock song. Lets you know the Cavalry has arrived and the stuff's gonna hit the fan.

Jackfu, I’m guilty of liking those particular scenes. I kind of like the build-up and tension. This set up probably became a cliché after the movie The Right Stuff, or maybe before that movie, but I kind of like these settings. However, these settings are certainly overused.

Here is one that doesn’t have a rock song or theme that I've always liked.

Thinking about The African Queen & The Bridge On The River Kwai that I watched a few weeks ago, films are very bad when it comes to dealing with leeches, you should just leave them, they drop off when they're full up, about 20-30 minutes. If you shake salt of them, they could regurgitate some nasty stuff into your veins, & if you use a burn them off with a cigarette, they could fall off & leave part of them inside you, maybe leading to an ulcer, which could prove deadly in a hot climate.

This has been a public information message.

...someone ends a heated argument at a posh dinner table by standing up, throwing their wadded-up napkin on the table right next to their plate, and only then being allowed to storm off in a huff? Saw this again in Gosford Park today, and was reminded how it's frequently used as a form of cinematic punctuation in tony period pieces set in high society.

And that scene in Stand by Me just magically became grosser.

this same old dialog...

HIM: What's wrong?

HER: Nothing.

Just once, I would like to see HIM run away from HER as fast as possible.

Also

Scene set in hospital:
Badly injured man : I'm fine.
Wife: You need to stay in bed.
Man : No. I'm fine.
Give me my clothes

What a load of pro-leech propaganda! Someone check Rameau for suckers at both ends of his person.

Cocking the head to one side right before a fight. Is that like cracking the neck or something and what does that do?

People have car windows open for no reason, just so the camera can see the occupant or so that someone can lean in and talk.

I just watched a film where the main guy drives up to a house, windows closed, on a cold day. When he comes out of the house both windows are open and he gets in his car. Another guy leans in and chats to him before he drives away.

The big knife fight goes to the ground with the good guy on his back grasping the wrists of the villain, who is trying to drive his knife into the neck or heart of the good guy. Grunts, groans, sweat! The knife is ever so close, but wait! The good guy is pushing it away!
Most knife fights are over quickly and are more slashing than stabbing - at least until the coup de gras.

That reminds me of a similar trope. Stopping a knife or sword thrust by clasping the blunt sides with the palms of the hands.
