Flew through the first 5 episodes of Schitt's Creek in one go, last night on Netflix.
Very enjoyable and funny.
Looking forward to more eps over the coming evenings.

You actually get invested in the character's, i found. And it's consistently amusing. Just have to watch the final series myself.

He's good Last Child. I saw him in stand up live in February and he was hilarious.

I shy away from current entertainment (meaning last two decades), but I'm sorry I missed out on him.

I'm generally not a fan of stand-up, but i find all of his stand-up amusing and good for all the family - though that wasn't the case when we watched him live. He was a little bit bluer, not much, but enough that he made a joke about that when he saw a few kids in the audience.

Unless he used raunchy language (he doesn't seem the type), maybe his jokes went over their heads.

I'm watching an older HBO series called BAND OF BROTHERS. I don't know why I didn't see it when it first aired. Very good series with great production values and a solid Kamen score.

Wait till you get to the finale documentary episode, joan, those old vets were remarkably lucid and erudite.

The Devs heavy is just Mike from Breaking Bad, without a real character.

The tech company seemingly has no idea how to convincingly recreate fake footage that can withstand five minutes of scrutiny.

The inciting incident is bizarrely stupid. They know he's a spy but show him everything anyway on day one?

I'd have preferred your corner shop idea, it would have been better written.

Nice design and music though, and some lovely shots.

Xebec, mon ami, I have to apologise for missing your utter evisceration of this programme before we watched it. I don’t keep up with this thread, clearly. We kind of enjoyed it, but our standards are less exacting than yours smile

I’ve told this tale before but when we lived in Hertfordshire over 20 years ago, little pointing signs started to pop up on lampposts in our area, which just said “BOB”. We thought Bob was a chap, it it turns out that they were filming Band of Brothers at the old Hatfield British Aerospace site and found that the crew were getting lost on their trips to Welwyn Garden City or Potters Bar, so the signs helped them to navigate.

Lightweights! They’d never have got to Bastogne with that lack of nous...

Hah. i was watching it with a friend, and I found there were too many occasions we were saying "What?" or "Why?" out loud, and laughing at things that made no sense (not so much at the magical science). I did like the look, there were lovely shots in every episode, and the general tone and the music. I didn't even mind that main girl, who wasn't popular in many reviews i read, and quite liked the ending.

Interesting information, Tall Guy. I did look up where Band of Brothers (BOB) was filmed. With the exception of a place in Switzerland, it was filmed almost entirely in the UK.

Many of the actors were British and Irish. Did you spot Michael Fassbender and Tom Hardy?

I have spotted Fassbender several times. I don't think I've spotted Hardy yet. I have 2 more episodes to watch.

We’re a bit late to it but we just finished watching Chernobyl on Now TV. It was harrowing but absolutely enthralling from start to finish. I’m sure they took liberties - in fact they admit to it - but as a representation of what may well have occurred it was fantastic television. The much-maligned score was spot on in my opinion. Some things don’t lend themselves to a traditional themed soundtrack, and the pulsing, atmospheric background was perfect. There were more tender moments in the score, no matter what people say, but in the same vein, and apparently all taken from the actual sounds made in a nuclear generator. The Russian-sounding hymn that brought it to a conclusion was also just right in tone.

By way of contrast we’re now watching Steve Carell’s Space Force. Four episodes in, the odd-numbered ones have been hilarious and the even-numbered ones very watchable if not quite as funny. John Malkovitch and Lisa Kudrow are riotous support for Carell’s General Naird, a man who makes his bed even when he gets up in the middle of the night to go to the toilet.

I thought this was a phenomenal series. Another top notch production by HBO.

Hey Tom, you are correct. We finished Band Of Brothers, and it was amazing.

We are now starting to watch (rewatch) The Pacific on HBO. We are gleaning a lot of information World War II.

TG, Chernobyl was a fine series but rather disconcerting for us. We live about 20 miles from the Hanford Nuclear Reservation. From our area, we sent some scientist to Russia after the Chernobyl event. Seems that a bit later after the event, Russia invited some of our scientists visit near the area.
If I suddenly disappear from the board...well, you know. wink
