Washed up (and or) retired hero grows a shaggy beard, lives on a farm and goes horseback riding. Called back into action, shaves beard and looks like a new man.

Yeah, & they always say no at first, but they always do it. Like the retired criminal who's talked into doing one last job, you just know it's going to end in tears.

Didn't all of this just happen on Star Trek: Strange New Worlds?

Yes, that's what reminded me of the trope!

Air bags never deploy in modern day car chases (and crashes). Air bags usually deploy only for comedic effect.

groups of people attacking someone one at a time, despite all logic, just so they can all be defeated.

Ha, yeah, you see a swashbuckler where Errol Flynn is surrounded by swordsmen, they should win easily, but apart from the guy Flynn is fighting, they're all just standing there wiggling their swords.

I watched a bit of an old Saint (with Roger Moore) today, & he's fighting about 6-8 men, they're sort of lining up to be hit, he pushes one huge guy over & he's lying on the floor like he's been hit by a truck, & then he punches another guy in the chest (not hard) & he's on the floor knocked out. I think it's a case of, don't try this at home, you'd get marmalized.

Eight is usually too much, unless the skill level difference and surroundings are copacetic for the defender, but 4-5 is feasible. It does require great skill and proper strategic training, alike snooker, getting the attackers to be in each other's way. I know of people who did that, all of them men with blockbuster worthy fighting skills and I mean guys who either walk straight through good fighters or climb in them and chop and smash on their way up and demolish everything remaining on their way down at blinding speed.

DS.

"No, no, no... one at a time. We run into each other, it'll get confusing".

...movies proudly declare pre-release about how they're including gay content, then you see the movie...and they treat said "gay" content as just a handful of smoldering, oblique glances between same-sex characters. And no one's allowed to SAY "gay", of course (all the easier to snip said content out of the movie when shown in China, of course...!). If you're gonna make claims of "inclusiveness", OWN that shit.

Yep, they tried that in HTTYD and of course we got the lesbian kiss in Star Wars: ROS. Always innocuous or done in a way where you can easily cut out the shot or change the dialog. Cause Social Justice only matters unless it gets in the way of profits. Same thing where they edit out black actors from the movie posters for Chinese releases.

They're playing coy with a cast member of Stranger Things potentially being gay this season, and I wish they'd either just fully commit to it, or drop it entirely, because it's annoying when a studio half-asses it like this. Forty years ago, it was understandable when depictions of homosexuality were frowned upon in Hollywood and they had to "sneak it in", but it's 2022. Treat us like adults.

...villains bellow out the hack line "You should have killed me when you had the chance!"? Heard it in a recent streaming TV series, and groaned. Still doing this shit in 2022...?

I think I've mentioned this before, but I've been viewing a few action films lately & it's amazing how the baddies become really terrible shots when they're shooting at the hero. Professional assassin's take a shot where they just can't miss...but where the star is concerned, they always do.

And going full circle, leaving the hero for dead instead of killing him on the spot. Just watched "Batman Begins" again. A flaming wooden beam falls on top of Bruce and knocks him out, (for some reason hes not burning alive in agony) anyway the villain gives him some kinda departing monologue speech then walks out of the flaming mansion assuming he's going to die in the fire.

Ha, there's a ton of James Bond films like that. They've captured Bond & just need to shoot him in the head & their troubles are over, but...let's tell him all our plans & then lock him up in a room that a child could escape from. Yeah, good idea.

...in any sort of "secret" government lab where cruel experiments are being performed on children, there's always a janitor or maid who not only helps one or more children to escape, but also surreptitiously films evidence of said atrocities to give to the kid(s) in question before they get killed off? How bad is the security in these places when someone pushing a mop or switching the linen can take one of more children out so easily, let alone get video evidence of what they're up to?

Just saw this again in the current season of Stranger Things...

...a sequel in a long-running franchise acts as the "real" sequel to the original movie and ignores the continuity of the "bad" sequels over the years/decades...yet is still crammed with Easter Egg references to said "bad" sequels? The current Blumhouse run of Halloween sequels come immediately to mind.

...a lengthy scene takes place in a public restroom, and no one other than the main character(s) will enter until their (non-scatalogical) business is completed? Whether it's a murder, whispered conversation or someone talking drugs, no matter how busy the venue the bathroom is in, no one will interrupt until the scene is completed.

When people just hang up the phone without saying goodbye. In DIE HARD it has bothered me since 1988: Bonnie Bedelila is talking to her housekeeper and she says "What would I do without you?" then literally just hangs up the phone, no goodbye or anything. Now that you know, may it crawl into your psyche when you watch DIE HARD and haunt you as it has me lol!

"Comical" vomiting scenes. Its the same gag (no pun intended) over and over. It's never funny.
Last seen in "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness".

TERMINATOR: DARK FATE (2019) tried to ignore everything after TERMINATOR II: JUDGMENT DAY (1991).

I guess you have to take into consideration the main motivation of the villain though. In BATMAN BEGINS, it was clearly not Ra's al Ghul's primary intention to kill Bruce Wayne.

...there's a reference to the Pandemic, when it serves NO purpose to the plot of the movie? The Worst Person In The World and the current Three Thousand Years Of Longing do this, and it pissed me off both times. No one wants that shit in their entertainment!!!
