I mostly agree with you, Bill, except I'd give it 'til as late as 1980 - gotta include Caddy Shack, The Blues Brothers and the penultimate - Airplane!.

There were exceptions - there always are - but as a general trend, id say somewhere aftr mid/late 70s.
