BATTLE OF THE NETWORK DICKS (1978 Reality Show Pilot) Massive production from Aaron Spelling sees popular TV Show Private Eyes Buddy Ebson (Barnaby Jones), William Conrad (Cannon), Barry Newman (Petrocelli), Mike Connors (Mannix), and George Peppard (Banachek), compete in various social scenarios to achieve the status of KING OF THE TV DICKS. We see George Peppard winning the cigar smoking contest; William Conrad easily eliminating the competition (and seeking medical attention afterwards) after consuming 42 hot dogs; Buddy Ebson winning the wheelchair racing competition; Mike Connors handily winning the stuffed-with-lamb-and-rice-with-garlic-and-lemon-grape-leaves cooking competion (167 Lebanese "dolmades" made in 3 minutes); and Barry Newman being last in all categories, but ultimately the "real" winner in this excuse for a network program.
