Ennio Morricone and Giuseppe Tornatore are currently in Prague recording the score for La corrispondenza with Czech National Symphony Orchestra.

Little I've heard sounds quite lovely although it won't surprise anyone. Typical beautiful lyrical Morricone.
The movie opens in January 2016.

What a great year for Ennio Morricone !

Back to the concert hall, four high profile productions (french, american, italian).

He will be 87 at the end of november.

Impressive is a weak word to describe his 2015 output.

Frigging workaholic!

When they did their first film together CINEMA PARADISO Tornatore was a 30 year old kid working with the grand master. Now they look like they are slowly becoming the same age.

"Music composed and arranged by" is a strange credit for Morricone. Did he not conduct?

Probably not.. obviously he didn't conduct Hateful 8 either and in both cases prefered to spend the time in the booth with the directors...

I hope it is a beautiful score. I really like the track titles. :-)

Hello Mathias, Bill Carson, Henry, PatrickB and everyone out there. I'm Laurent who used to write on a regular basis on Cali's former discussion board and I'm actually posting here for the very first time.

I like very much the artwork of this brand new score. Basing on the excerpts I've seen so far (the trailer + a short report done during filming in Scotland) where various snippets of the soundtrack can be heard, I must say I'm rather confident about it. It seems we are dealing with a haunting love story and I have no doubt Ennio came up with an equally haunting score. The track titles also look very promising. I therefore look forward to playing that CD as soon as possible.

Hey laurent! Welcome. Its about time.
This does indeed look very promising.
Remember in the last months ennio was for a while in a wheelchair and prior to that had a disc problem so its very possible standing to conduct was next to impossible for him.
Equally i have always taken the conducting credit over the years with a pinch of salt. On many occasions we know the official conducting credit was proven to be nonsense.

Looking forward to this one. Always loved this collaboration, hope film and score are as impressive as 'The Best Offer'.

Hello Mathias and thanks a lot for your kind message. I didn't participate in the discussions thus far but have been reading the contents of this board all the time. And now I'm glad I can be part of it, at least of a few topics regarding my favourite composer Ennio but also other ones I appreciate as well.

Are you going to see the movie LA CORRISPONDENZA as soon as the 14th of January, the date of its Italian theatrical release? If yes, let us know about your impressions. I have the feeling the Maestro could garner one more David di Donatello with that score. I also hope he will win the French César for EN MAI, FAIS CE QU'IL TE PLAIT and the BAFTA for THE HATEFUL 8.

I live in Sweden so I´ll have to wait for some time. Let´s hope there is someone else on this board who can give us impatient a little review of the film and the score. ;-) I´ll try to find some Italian film reviews in the coming days.
