Those were just sublime and lovely opening credits. I'd forgotten how lovely some of those pieces of music were. You don't see that many movies anymore that have extended opening credits with music. Some but not a lot.
You are doing a good job, Howard. These bring back memories. I remember lots of movies with opening credist, but youtube seems to only carry main themes for the movies I remember.
Yup, when the name count went over half a million, it made sense to put 'em all at the end. But there are many thousands of examples of really great main title music.
OMG, three western opening credits from mgh and Leo. I'm in heaven. Also, Walk On The Wild Side is a top notch opener and really rather modern sounding.
Oh man, back at'cha, joan. SHANE with the incomparable Victor Young! I've been hanging with the "sublime" mood for the most part but what the whole gang here is chiming in with is aces. It's getting to the point that I listen to and watch the entire thread once a day. Will work our way to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wwf96OEaYBg (more "melancholic" but hey not to be too pedantic) and the deliciously overblown https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xBxjwurp_04, but in the meantime...
