A few years ago, I did a small "series" of threads about the completely unreleased music by my favourite composers: John Williams - http://www.filmscoremonthly.com/board/posts.cfm?threadID=88091&forumID=1&archive=0 Danny Elfman - http://www.filmscoremonthly.com/board/posts.cfm?threadID=88081&forumID=1&archive=0 Elliot Goldenthal - http://www.filmscoremonthly.com/board/posts.cfm?threadID=88100&forumID=1&archive=0 For this belated 4th edition, I'd like to focus on James Horner. I was wondering, what completely unreleased Horner material is still around (not counting bootlegs)? To my knowledge, this is the list (using IMDB and soundtrackcollector as sources -- feel free to add or correct): FILMS: THE WATCHER (1978) THE DROUGHT (1978) FANTASY (1978) GIST AND EVANS (1978) JUST FOR LAUGH (1978) LANDSCAPE (1978) THE LADY IN RED (1979) UP FROM THE DEPTHS (1979) THE HAND (1981) THE DRESSER (1983) THE STONE BOY (1984) STREETS OF FIRE (1984, rejected) IN HER OWN TIME (1985, documentary) VOLUNTEERS (1985) HEAVEN HELP US (1985, also includes rejected versions) CAPTAIN EO (1986, short) OFF BEAT (1986) P.K. AND THE KID (1987) YOUNG GUNS (1988, rejected) I LOVE YOU TO DEATH (1990) NORMAN AND THE KILLER (1991, short) ROMEO & JULIET (2013, rejected) FIRST IN FLIGHT (2012, short) ONE DAY IN AUSCHWITZ (2015, documentary) TV: ANGEL DUSTED (1981) A FEW DAYS AT WEASEL CREEK (1981) A PIANO FOR MRS. CIMINO (1982) FAERIE TALE THEATRE (1982-1987) BETWEEN FRIENDS (1983) SURVIVING (1985) FISH POLICE (1992) LOGO MUSIC: UNIVERSAL PICTURES (1990-1997) ICON PRODUCTIONS (1993) THX "CIMMARON" DVD (2000) CBS EVENING NEWS WITH KATIE COURIC (2006-) IMAGINE ENTERTAINMEN (2009?) CBS FILMS (2010) CONCERT WORKS: CONVERSATIONS (1976) SPECTRAL SHIMMERS (1978) A FOREST PASSAGE (2000)

He also did two scores (in different styles from the one that was used) that were not used for "Heaven Help Us". Also, most of his rejected "Streets of Fire" has not been release. I know it's a technicallity. It's probably also -- what's been released -- heavily edited. That's a number of tossed scores for somebody who proclaimed in an interview he'd never had any rejected. Information online shows that "Soul Calibur" was a film version of the video game series, in 2002. Director: Sammo Hung Kam-Bo. I don't know if it never got filmed, maybe got shelved, or what not.

I think you might like BETWEEN FRIENDS (1983), but it's a short score. I mentioend that about a month ago here. I don't recall the exact amount, but it's something like 12 to 18 minutes in the film (unless there's stuff dropped). As I recall, Horner was holding up a YG release. It was one of two scores he apparently didn't want out.

He has it under Films.

He did almost two full scores that were seperate attempts in different styles, that were not accepted. We're not talking cues not used from the final score. But that does point out what I didn't notice before, so Thor should mkake a correction: the final score didn't get officially released, so perhaps it should read "(used and rejected scores)"

ONE DAY IN AUSCHWITZ (2015, documentary) Boring, slow with nothing of note, and electronics. Thor, you'll love it. EDIT: "Raptor" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q-nUf3t2AEQ How'd this slip by? It says "Music by James Horner". I double checked the end credits to make sure it wasn't misleading and that used music might be credited there, but nothing is credited.
