Holy crap. They actually did it. Talk about your landmark releases.

The music was chopped up so much in the movie that it'll be absolutely fascinating to see how this presentation plays.

This is indeed a landmark release. Horner's music and the film certainly deserves a release like this. I can't wait to listen.

Indeed.

THEY PUT THE TRAILER MUSIC ON HERE.

THAT was a grail cue of mine ever since I bought the old non-anamorphic DVD in 1999 which had the trailer on it.

The music was in two halves: Early versions of the themes (like a slightly different synth rendering of the Titanic choral theme) and followed up with pieces of 'Al Bathra' and 'Monfriez's Suicide' from Courage Under Fire, both used as precursors to the 'Hard to Starboard' cue in the film.

From the look of the tracklist, the "film versions" of key cues are on disc 3, judging by their shorter run times - Southampton on the OST runs 4 minutes, the film version, which is actually far better as a piece of orchestral music with a great fanfare build-up to the synth chorus, is shorter.

La-La Land is responsible for giving me EVERY one of my most-wanted expansions.

Earlier this year they said they had a "drop the mic and retire" collection of albums and they weren't kidding.

Something tells me the licensing fees for it were probably really, really, really high.

The song doesn't need to be included I'm sure many have it from a previous Titanic CD release.

It is strange that it couldn't be included though only because the theme is woven into the score, but more so because Celine owes so much to the fact she got to sing this song and her career only blew up to her height because of it.

again I don't need the song on this set.

However let's celebrate with the Tony Moran ReMix from the CD Import Single)

At least the song's omission is understandable, unlike the tracks from Intrada's release of "Troy" that weren't available for licensing.

At least the song's omission is understandable, not unlike the random missing tracks from "Troy" due to licensing.]

That was just bizarre.

The Titanic release looks great. I guess it was too complicated / expensive to include the suites from Back to Titanic? Unless they are split on the third disc?

Yeah, that's disappointing that four CDs worth of a music and still it lacks those.
As for the song, saying "most people have it on the previous CD" is silly because one would assume (though knowing this board, wrongly I suppose) that this set would replace it. I don't mind that much but given it IS written by Horner the theme a huge part of the score itself, it seems like an odd (though likely mandated) omission.

James Horner is one of my favorite composers, but the Titanic Suite on the Back To Titanic release is probably the worst thing he has ever composed! It's gawd awful.

Kinda sad the "song" isn't on this release. Sure it was a rights issue, but a very odd omission.

It's hard to comprehend a Titanic album without the song. It's fair to say it was the song which escalated this score to legendary status. I get the possible reasons why. But... yeah!

And the album versions are included... but you have to hang on to the album anyway... for the song. You have to hold onto Back To Titanic too for the specially recorded concert suite.

It's utterly definitive except for its signature track!

Lots of tremendous unreleased Horner... especially disc 1, track 2 but... y'know...
