Definitely one of Zimmer's most moving cues ! Really needed to control myself when recording this otherwise the music gets to me and it becomes hard to play ^^
I'd somehow missed all those previous ones, Marc. Excellent! Watching you play (although it's "simply" on top of the original soundtrack?), with the film images accompanying and the manuscript unveiling itself throughout, really heightens the appreciation of the artistry involved in composition, plus the skill of the musicians. And it made me realise once more how really brilliant Morricone's THE LEGEND OF 1900 is. Oh, and Williams' WAR HORSE too. That's beautiful. But pretty much everything is enhanced when "seen" from a different perspective. Congrats!
Thanks a lot Graham ! Yes, in most cases I use the original piece as a "backing track" on top of which I lay all of my horn and trumpets parts I was sometimes lucky to find alternate takes which didn't have the same instrumentation as the final mixes, for example for my King Kong cover I had a take of one of the cues without the solo choir part at the end, so I played that choir part on the horn on top of the strings
