Until today, I couldn't recall the last time I'd listen to this score, composed by Joel McNeely and released by Varese back in 1994. It's at least been more than 10 years, but I rediscovered it today and was happy to be reminded at what a fun score it is. The orchestral acrobatics are impressive, seeing as how this was still the time in the action genre when a Silvestri/Kamen style fully orchestral score was in vogue, even as the Zimmer style was encroaching on the genre. "Cadillac Freefall" is still the standout track. Any other fans of this score?
This. THIS! COMPLETE. Is my number ONE Holy Grail.
I've written to Bob Townson and everyone associated with Varese Ad Nausium about it for about a decade now. LOL
Glad to know I'm not the only one who appreciates the score (Bring on Expandeds of Iron Will, Soldier and Virus too!). Love, love love McNeely's work.
I hope I get to hear the Deluxe Treatment before my time is up. :-)

Having never seen the movie itself, I can't speak to the rest of the score, but if it's all as great as what's on the 30-minute album then sign me up as well for a complete edition.

I don't remember the film having much more in the way of highlights, but Cadillac Freefall is an essential cue for anyone who likes anything.

It's a great score, but it's weird to me that you can't mention a single score these days and just talk about the musical qualities, without the 'default' discussion mode of someone talking about desiring an expanded release and whatnot. As if that is the only thing one can talk about. It's a very different discussion atmosphere than just 10 years ago.
I know! People don't even know if there even IS any music they want that's not on the album!

Love this one. Always have. I've listened to "Krista is Caught" and "Cadillac Freefall" more times than I can possibly count. Would buy an expanded/complete release in an eyeblink.

Glad I'm not the only one who's noticed! There was a time back in the mid 2000s when, if you posted a thread about a score, people would talk about the music, the film, favourite tracks, what have you. But now, it's almost instantly into "I want a complete release NOW!" or "this and that music is missing". It's as if the focus has shifted from the tangible; what exists, to what is intangible; what doesn't exist. Peculiar (but not altogether surprising).
As for TERMINAL VELOCITY, there was a time in the 90s when McNeely could do no wrong (almost). Almost always pastiche, but done with such care and skill, it was impossible to dislike. Can't remember anything of the film, though.

I KNOW. :-)
Because the score in the film...as a whole plays like it needs to be whole. The album is chopped up and mixed around.
Granted the album does have the highlights, but there's about another half hour of additional music, particularly the action sequences. The reason why Cadilac Freefall is the go-to track on the album is because it's the only action sequence on the album.
I saw the film on Laserdisc in 1994, noticed the music. All 60+ minutes of it. (very good sound mix.. the music mix is allowed to take front and center, kinda like Rocketeer and Temple of Doom.)
