GNP's last release of First contact was incomplete? What's missing other than alternates?

Aside from two or three variants and songs, nothing was missing.

That's odd. He did confirm a new extended release is in the works. He has recently been working on Joel's contributions.

Extended doesn't mean new magical cues, it can just mean extra material, like more alternates and possibly songs.

The GNP complete release combined at least two cues, so I hope any combining and any possible crossfading, is not done this time.

I see the GNP release is still not sold out, so I wonder what the deal is here.

There's songs in First Contact?

Yeah, "Magic Carpet Ride" when warp ship launches, one for the bar where Troi drinks, and I think one more.

Two on the old regular edition from GNP.

There's songs in First Contact?

Yes, Magic Carpet Ride, Oobie Doobie and that song in the holodeck.

There is also the opera music Picard is listening to while the Enterprise is patrolling the neutral zone.

The original album includes both Magic Carpet Ride and Oobie Doobie.

If it just had two key "alternates" I really really want, I'd get it even if it had the songs and was a 2CD set.

"Bizet?"
"Berlioz!"

Right, forgot about that.

Guess I blocked them from my memory!

Sounds like your brain went on a ... magic carpet ride.

There was definitely some material missing, mostly alternates. Perhaps some room for improvement in sources or mastering too.

So, now " alternates" count as " missing"?

It's " madness, madness"

" Bruce"

There's certainly room for improvement in terms of artwork! (GNP improved there somewhat with the subsequently expanded Generations and Insurrection.) I wonder if GNP is working on this new edition (which would surprise me as they said they were done with producing soundtrack expansions, and their First Contact release is still available) or if they have sub-licensed to LLL, as they did with Star Trek: The Original Series, Mission: Impossible, and Irwin Allen stuff.

Scores should come with a lock of hair from the composer too.

I guess there is a chance Joel did some source music that was replaced with songs in the film, but I think by now we would have heard about it. But no score from the film is missing on the deluxe GNP release.

I would love it if GNP would sub-license to LLL so that we can get improved versions of their TNG Vol 3 and Vol 4 albums. Even if it was just an improvement in sound quality that would be great, as they're considerably quieter when compared with all the LLL Trek TV album releases. But hey, I also wouldn't mind getting more music from each of the McCarthy and Chattaway scores represented on those volumes.
