Paths of Glory is probably my favorite Kirk Douglas movie with Out Of The Past a close second.
As far as the best scored movie he was in, I think it has to be Spartacus.

Spartacus

I told my kids that Kirk Douglas passed away. They didn't know who he was. frown

That suggests you didn't play his movies for them. That said, I can't think of many (any?) kid's films of his.

I'd say Spartacus is the best film score for one of his films, ahead of Gunfight at the OK Corral.

True. Although, as you said, I'm not sure there is much out there that would appeal to them at their age. Maybe in the upcoming weeks I'll see if they are interested in watching Spartacus.

Greatest score for a Kirk Douglas film: Spartacus.

Greatest score for a not so great Kirk Douglas film: Saturn 3.

The Final Countdown (1980) is pretty kid friendly. Good score too.

Rózsa fan that I am, and since it's not mentioned yet, I'll say Strange Love of Martha Ivers.

I still listen to my Kritzerland.

For me the most memorable will always be "The Heroes of Telemark" by Malcolm Arnold.
