This was with the previous director and before the next Spider-Man movie had a release date. Who knows though - they kept Powell despite the Solo director switch.
If left to his own devices his contribution would make for a refreshing change of pace from Elfman's stale leftovers and Giacchino's gibbering gobbledygook.
LoDuca would be good. I know it's a long time ago but I loooove his Army of Darkness. It's genuinely good fun, with effective creepy bits and great action queues. Worked brilliantly in the film too.

Doctor Strange is one of Giacchino's best scores. Of course your mileage will vary depending on your love (or hate) of Giacchino.
I want Christopher Young too. It's a joy to hear Young in a high-budget superhero movie with mystic and horror elements and directing by Sam Raimi. Their previous collaboration in Drag Me to Hell was one of my favorite works from horror genre.
As far as I know, Young really wanted to write music for the first Doctor Strange movie, so how about to give him that chanse in the sequel?
Anyway, considering wich themes and elements will be shown in a sequel, Young is a perfect choice for this movie
I concur that Christopher Young would be an amazing choice for this... particularly since it seems to have more of a horror vibe than the original film! I like Elfman's two Spiderman scores for Raimi but I think I like Young's even better.

Hate is much too strong a term; I'm simply dismissive of a minor talent whose career success flies in the face of the third-rate calibre of his musical output.
And, oh my, if not LoDuca, then Young would indeed be a welcome presence too.
I love Young and would be thrilled to see him on this, but I don't think it's likely. Elfman was originally set to score 'The Gift' (he even has a cameo), but it ended up clashing with Proof of Life and he had to leave. Spider-Man 3 was offered to Elfman, but he turned it down. Elfman was hired to score Spider-Man 4 before it fell apart.
If Raimi has the decision, Elfman will score this. He kept gushing about Elfman during the Oz press tour.
That said, I think all Raimi films have good to great scores and look forward to it regardless of who's scoring.

I can tell you from Elfman's QA in Paris, during the Philharmonie week-end, that he's more than ready for a collaboration with Raimi. "He's just not doing films for the moment" was pretty much his conclusion.
So if it's Raimi's choice and Elfman is available, it's a deal.
Young, yes please. Giacchino - the first is one of his best scores ( sez me ) and maybe his best film theme to date ( sez me again but I'm right on this point ) so that'd be nice . But no Elfman, please.
