I have just finished listing to Cleopatra OST (North) and The Thief of Bagdad (Tadlow) (Rozsa).

These helped to take my attention away from the self isolation and panic pushers and buyers here in the UK.

Not scores, as such.
But, for some reason, non-stop ABBA.

And just this morning, some Van Der Graaf Generator.
How's that for strange bedfellows?

Because of a certain Norwegian, flippin' Jean Michelle Jarre! Right now. But I still have the Intrada Jason and the Argonauts in the cd player virtually non-stop. Hardly a day goes by when I don't have to at least hear the Prelude. God bless Bernard Herrmann.

And Jarre.

Oh, and I just got this...

Mostly Biblical/Religious scores with a few random scores interspersed (I intend to listen to my recent acquisition of the FSM Prisoner of Zenda later tonight)

2 CD set of Gone With the Wind. Too bad they don’t have the overture on these discs. Always thought that was one of the most beautiful parts of the movie.

I was just listening to the symphonies of Christopher Gunning. Modern but not strident. Great stuff.

Well I recently treated myself to a bunch of stuff from Lalaland that I’ve been going through these past weeks.

The Williams Disaster boxset has been getting tons of play. The mix on all three discs is great and I love having the film tracks from Earthquake and the album arrangement for Towering Inferno.

I also took advantage of their Goldsmith sale and snagged Take a Hard Ride, Rio Conchos/100 Rifles, Stagecoach/The Loner and Dennis the Menace. I also grabbed The Swarm (not on sale)
All of the remastering jobs on these are totally worth it.

So yeah, I have lots to keep me busy right now. Not really anything pandemic-themed, but listening to Earthquake while going to the grocery store or walking around the deserted city seems appropriate right now.

Listening to whatever I fancy, as usual. Nothing has changed since the pandemic. I occasionally post whatever I'm listening to in the "Now Playing" threads.

Psychologists warn against this, and I have to agree. It's why I haven't done a list of top pandemic scores at my own site, for example. But anyone is free to do what one wishes, of course.

Going through my LPs while I work from home. A lot of 50's and 60's albums, some scores, mostly not. Enoch Light Command series albums are amazing, as are the Jackie Gleason jazz albums and the 70's fusion of Chick Corea.

This evening we've stuck mostly to music, though did try an old British B movie for ten minutes ...

... Richard Strauss: Also sprach Zarathustra, TrV176 - Andris Nelsons/RCO [31 Dec 13] - Blu-Ray ... wonderful, far better than I'd expected given a negative Amazon review

... Sergei Rachmaninov: Piano Concerto #3, Op.30 - Abduraimov/Gergiev/MPHIL [18 Jul 16] ... my own DVDr from that year's BBC Proms ... incredible version of one of my favourite works ... I'm trying to decide whether to buy the Blu-Ray (I already have multiple recordings of this masterpiece)

and to end the evening:

... J.S Bach: Cantata, BWV202 Weichet nur, betrübte Schatten (Begine, dismal shadows) - Karl Richter/Münchener Bach-Orchester [1959] ... from CD. Very good, but too heavily dependent upon a soprano, Maria Stader ... not to my wife's taste smile ... amusingly, I see that this is known as the "Wedding Cantata"

Agreed, this is why the ladies eat ice cream after a breakup instead of sardines.
