For me it's John Williams "Night Search". I like the album recording better than the film version. The whole first half is amazing and at the 2/3 point, Williams is able to recreate the feel of diving underwater with just the piano and high strings. Brilliant (albeit very "Holst"). It's such an evocative little piece that I almost wish there was no stinger at the end.

That piece (I've always known it as Ben Gardener's Boat) is one of my top ten favorite Williams cues. The suspense is haunting and makes you really start to feel the gravity of the situation and that the characters are dealing with something almost supernatural. So many emotions in just a few minutes! Great stuff.
My film score track of the day is The Harvest from Medicine Man by Goldsmith:
The switch at 2:20 always makes me swoon with the subtle samba rhythm and those achingly beautiful strings.
One of my favorite scores ever is Hans Salter/Paul Dessau's 1944 HOUSE OF FRANKENSTEIN. The last 8 minutes is a whirlwind of monsters, sadness, revenge, and death. It's beautifully rerecorded by John Morgan/William Stromberg here.
"Across the Desert" from James Newton Howard's DINOSAUR. So much of what I love about Howard's Disney scores collides in this cue—muscular brass, a killer hook, and diverse textures (in this case, the Lebo M. choral elements). It's like a war-movie sequel to The Lion King. In a different universe somewhere, college marching bands are belting out that herd theme.
Two of my favorite tracks have already been posted. Love Thrashing of Sky Ranch especially from 2:04 on. Also love Across The Desert; in fact, I love that whole score.
My track for the day is another favorite. Powell's The Fire Truck from Evolution is played often in my home.
I'd prefer that this thread stay movie-centric, but, as I've been watching episodes of Strange Report for the last seven days or so, this is the music that's been in my head (theme by Roy Webb):
As for the film score track of the day, let's stick with Kaz Garas-related material:
Stanley Myers' famous theme. I like the scene when Samantha Eggar and David Hemmings stroll into a pub to see Robert DeNiro and Chris Walken playing pool.
Henry's Barry thread got me digging out mr Quiller. Always loved this theme and the tension of quiller wandering berlin being followed by the neo nazis
I know its against the rules to comment on other people's posts here ....but nice choice brofax.
Oh no! I hope people here don't actually think that no comments are allowed. I very much would like to see "Excellent choice"-type posts for my...I mean, everyone's selections!
I was playing it very safe today, and sticking with the familiar.
Elmer Bernstein. The "Prelude" hits all the marks, not least of which is how it serves beautifully as a mini-greatest-hits of the rest of the score. Right from those first blasts from the horns--exciting.
