Just watched Journey to the Center of the Earth last night. Wow, what a great score! Fully orchestral and thematic. Lockington also returned for Journey 2 with a new cast. Sadly both scores are long OOP.

The CD's if you can find them go for outrageous money. Looks like only Journey 2 is available as a digital download.

Has Lockington done anything else in the same style that can be recommended? (still available) How did his film music career not take off?

Not sure if you'd call it the same style, but his City of Ember CD has always been a favourite. Don't think it's too pricey.

It's highly possible that you answered the question yourself in the first paragraph...! wink

Lockington wrote a gorgeous score for the CircleVision film in EPCOT's Canada that was premiered earlier this year, but it seems unlikely that Disney will ever release it, which is too bad.

I totally agree about Journey 1 (never saw the second or heard the score). It's a fantastic adventure score, complete with soaring and heartfelt moments. It's one of my favorites.

I enjoy his Journey 2 score more than the first one. It's more Olympian and Epic.
He did the Percy Jackson sequel score too, which is pretty good.
City Of Ember is good as well.

He could've been the James Horner of the 2000's what a shame. I guess his style of music was out of vogue when he came onto the scene. Seems hes been regulated to television with a big budget film every now and again.

Thxs, I'll have to try out the suggestions. For kicks and giggles I recorded Rampage off of cable so I can watch that. I actually saw Space Between Us and liked the score, though I didn't make the connection while watching JTTCOTE it was the same composer.

Aye, Space Between Us was more ambient/Thomas Newman in style, but did have some nice dreamy cues nonetheless.

Have you heard Skinwalkers? I remember that being a pretty good score. In fact, it is a score I need to revisit soon. The CD was released by MovieScore Media, and is currently only $0.45 at SAE.

Don't forget Pirate's Passage...I like that one even more than City of Ember, depending on my mood.

I'll give it a shot, thxs.

I just discovered he did "Rivers of Light/Tree of Life", I absolutely love that score!

I tried "Rampage" on YT and sadly it's pretty much sonic wallpaper other than a few tracks with chorus.

Also a fan of his work for Disney Animal Kingdom.

Journey 2 is Lockington's best by far.

Altought, enjoyed the first one, but the second is a superior work in all way.

....Looks like only Journey 2 is available as a digital download.

I don't know if this has already been mentioned, but I found both 1 and 2 on Spotify and Apple Music.
