I've seen a lot of people requesting this over the years, and Quartet have just put out 500 copies of it.

Quartet Records presents the world premiere release of the adventure score composed by Pino Donaggio (CARRIE, DRESSED TO KILL, THE HOWLING, PATRICK) for THE ORDER, a Jean-Claude van Damme Middle Eastern escapade.

Directed by Sheldon Lettich (the screenwriter of BLOODSPORT), THE ORDER finds JCVD in the middle of a millennium-spanning conspiracy as a radically religious knighthood intends to launch one last apocalyptic cataclysm for the glory of God. It’s up to a master thief and an Israeli police officer to unravel the truth and stop the final attack that could jeopardize the lives of thousands of believers …

Pino Donaggio’s music focuses on Middle Eastern flavor and religious splendor with a majestic choral hymn representing the constructive aspects of faith. Besides several action cues that could be expected with the genre, there’s a lovely romantic theme for the relationship between Rudy and Lt. Dalia Barr as well as a high-energy klezmer piece recorded for one of the more off-kilter chase sequences.

Performed by The Bulgarian Symphony Orchestra & Chorus conducted by Natale Massara, this release has been remixed by Paolo Steffan from recently discovered original multi-tracks under the composer’s supervision. Mastered by Chris Malone, the package includes liner notes by Gergely Hubai discussing the film, the composer and the score.

1. Knights Templar (4:56)
2. The Bus (3:01)
3. Planning The Theft (4:55)
4. The Cult (1:52)
5. Israel (3:33)
6. Klezmer Jokes (1:49)
7. Escape From The Plane (2:54)
8. The Theft (3:21)
9. Dalia (0:57)
10. The Land (2:19)
11. The Prophecy (1:09)
12. A Father In Danger (1:54)
13. Street Market (1:15)
14. The Dungeons (3:39)
15. The Grand Master (2:40)
16. The Treasure (4:04)
17. Fight in the Cave (2:17)
18. Chase Through The Village (2:36)
19. On To A New Adventure (4:17)

I would've bought it anyway since I'll buy absolutely anything by Donaggio, but the samples sound fantastic.

I'm thrilled to see this score finally released !!!!

Especially because the tape recordings were considered lost (I know this first hand).

The line "recently discovered original multi-tracks" is an example that sometimes miracles can indeed happen.

Thank you so much Quartet! Just can't wait to get this amazing CD!

Yes finally. I wanted this score since I first saw the movie back when it was released. However now when it is released I can`t afford it since I am about to buy me a new car. Too bad I can`t get the best of two worlds.

Wow. Long ago, I was told that the elements were unavailable. Never give up hope, right?

Ever since I heard the end title cue at The Cat’s website, I wanted this. Thanks!

Remember when 1000 copies of something like this would sell out in less than 24 hours?
I don't miss those days (although I'm sure the labels do) but it's hard to believe that nowadays, 500 copies will remain in stock for quite some time.

Just came in here to ask about that.

I never heard of the film, and when I saw the announcement I thought "Good! I can save money on this batch."

Then I stupidly got curious and listened to some clips.

Looks like I need to go over my budget and buy list again and maybe make a few alterations.

So just how long were people waiting/hoping for this one?
When were their hopes dashed originally?

Hopefully noone will have problems with their copies. Could get confusing when discussing an order for The Order.

Received mine today too. Props to Quartet for their quick shipping.

Had a quick look at the liner notes and the story of how the tapes were lost is quite interesting.

Yeah, I'm not a huge Van Damme fan but I am tempted to seek this out.

------------------------
Hmmmm, yes.
Although it says the whole 9/11 thing caused the delay and mix problems, it doesn't actually state where the tapes where for the past 19 years!! Just that they went back to the original Tascam DA-88 tapes for a new mix-down.
Maybe Chris Malone could offer more insight?

I remember this coming out and critics roasting it harshly. This was Van Damme's lone directorial effort I believe? The film bombed, IIRC.

The score samples are wonderful though.

Not quite LeHah. Sheldon Lettich directed this film (there was a JCVD film soon after that he directed, but I can't remember it's title either).

I'll use this DP to mention that I'm playing it now and if you've enjoyed one of Pino's 'Kitchen Sink' scores before (Mysteries Of The Dark Jungle, The Gamble), wherein every style (orchestra, synths/keyboard, choir, action, comedy, romance*, suspense, source) is employed...you will deffo dig this score too.

*actually, very little romance, outside of one, very short cue.

I have vague memories of this film, but what a cool score to get out there. I always salute world premiere releases! Goes to show Donaggio's versatility too; I'll certainly be checking out the samples.
