Music by Mark Snow
Limited Edition of 2000 Units
RETAIL PRICE: $49.98
La-La Land Records and Twentieth Television proudly present the fourth 4-CD volume of composer Mark Snow’s original scores from the award-winning, landmark television series, THE X FILES. With his signature style and original sound, Snow’s captivating work underscored and enriched all the drama, suspense, intrigue and humanity that were hallmarks of this classic and beloved series created by Chris Carter. This 4-CD collection is a treasure-trove of musical highlights, including score from such notable episodes as “Apocrypha,” “Avatar,” “Never Again”, “Triangle,” “Invocation”, “Nothing Important Happened Today 1 and 2,” and more! Also included is the cue “Smoking Telegram,” the finale music from the X-FILES feature film, “FIGHT THE FUTURE.” Produced by Mike Joffe and Mark Snow, and mastered by James Nelson, this attractive 4-CD set is limited to 2000 units, showcases more than 5 hours of music and includes a 42-Page CD booklet that features exclusive, in-depth liner notes from writer Randall Larson. The sleek art design is by art designer Mark Banning. As always, The Truth is still out there – and Mark Snow’s music expertly guides us along the path towards it!

Finally! This looks like a stellar release and it looks to fill in a lot of requests for fans. Thank you so so much for including Invocation which is something I'd requested since Volume 1 and I thought would never show up. Plus: Never Again, Duane Barry/Ascension and the Fight the Future finale... wow! SO excited!

Really excited for the Død Kalm score! I remember it being very nice while rewatching the show last year!

And also All the Pretty Horses!!

The cue from This Is Not Happening, anyone know which scene this is from?
I am obsessed with the main theme from those episodes (like "Hidden Truths / Big Happening)!

I have to say I'm pretty annoyed they found the "lost" final to X-Files Fight the Future and now they want me to invest in this set, which I own none of the previous ones, to get this cue. You can't assume people who bought the film score are getting these sets.

Labels really need to figure out a better solution than this type of practice. I get they might not have had access to certain material at the time, but when we are talking about 1 track that is 3minutes, you'd think they be able to throw a bone to customers.

NOTE: This new Vol. 4 release is NOT housed within a hard-cover slipcase box.

Fine by me. I didn't understand why a single clamshell needed a slipcase box anyway.

I don’t remember ever seeing someone fight with themselves in the same breath. That’s actually impressive.

The lack of slipcase weirdly irks me (though I don’t know why) but you bet your ass I’m grabbing this on day one. Can’t wait!

Thank you LaLaLand!!! I remember requesting En Ami, The Rain King, and Avatar waaaaay back in 2010 before Vol 1 was even released. So happy to finally hear these and put a bow on these amazing releases.

I am so happy I cannot wait to finally get this! Always ready to buy new X-Files music and the lost cue from Fight The Future is the cherry on the pie to me. Thank you so much LLL and thanks to Mark Snow of course for the amazing music smile

Let me preface by saying that the absence of this cue is my only negative about the expanded score. In its current form, the album IMO ends with a whimper because it's missing. Yeah, I'm disappointed that the only way to get it is on this set because I don't own any of the others and have no interest in buying a $50 set for a single cue

That being said...

If the cue couldn't be found at the time, then it couldn't be found at the time. Should they have scrubbed the whole project in the hopes that it would one day be found? I'm not exactly sure what you would expect LLL to do in this case.

If they re-press the movie score with this new cue, people would complain about having to re-purchase the album.

If they re-press with the new cue and offer it as a replacement disc for direct customers, they would 1) probably take a financial hit that might be feasible and/or 2) people who didn't buy it direct will complain.

If they put it up on the site as free download, there will still be unhappy people--probably complaining "no disc = no sale" or some other gripe.

Yeah, I'm disappointed. Yeah, it would've been great to get it on the film score. But to vilify the labels because of this is unfair and, to be blunt, petty and immature.

I would gladly send $3 to LLL right now for a digital copy of this cue.

The sad thing is the only way to avoid griping from someone would have been to just not release the cue on the set. All of us would probably just accepted it was lost and be none the wiser.... such is life in a collector's community I guess.

At any rate, on a more positive note, I want to thank Matt, MV, Mark Snow and everyone associated with these releases for their continued support. It's amazing to me that for years all week had was 45 minutes from The Truth and the Light and now we've got 20 disks from the series! Plus the 4 Millenium disks. Amazing!

Thanks for bringing some joy to what's been a rough year with this release!

We were able to get quite a number of gems on this release, including the Lamp cue from Talitha Cumi and Scully's Tattoo music. Personally I was really excited about the music for Shadows and Pusher and that great cue from This Is Not Happening where Reyes sees her first UFO.

I own Vols. 1 and 2. Can someone answer the question, does this set include fan’s request which people felt the first 2 sets missed?
Thanks
Chris

From a collector’s standpoint, the lack of a slipbox is a serious bummer, but the disc contents look flawless to me!

So here's a question for those who are more in the know... across all of these different editions have the tracks making up The Truth and the Light now all been released dialog-free?

The last two tracks missing from The Truth And The Light were from Oubliette and we covered them here.

Awesome! Thanks for all of your hard work on these sets, Mike. Can't imagine how much time it must have taken to dig through all those tracks and try to satisfy all requests.
