SEASON 1:
A 1981 Stephen J. Cannell series.
I've never seen the series before. I didn't have high hopes for it, given the cheesy-looking super hero and lack of bigger fame for the series, but I gave it a whirl simply because its Mike Post and Pete Carpenter.
I'm glad I did; the series is a big surprise. Well worth it. Well done, good laughs, polar opposite leads who play well off each other, and of course the feel-good scoring of Post/Carpenter.
I very much recommend this weird superhero series. I couldn't find any legitimate purchase links on Youtube, but those who use other sites can no doubt rent it/but it or get the DVD's.

Couple odd things in this episode.
Bill says Ralph told him he could see things when touching objects. This hasn't happened yet, so this either means this episode was aired out-of-order or they're speaking about off-screen adventures.

Ralph's girlfriend's mother says Ralph's full name, but each time a jet engine revving covers up the last name as if it was a secret, however we learned it in the pilot. Maybe it was meant to be secret but they lost track.
A favorite of mine when it aired. I would be first in line for a Post/Carpenter music release from this show. Disappointed the DVD release did not include all of the music as aired.
Ralph's surname in the pilot/premiere was "Hinkley". After the attempted assassination of President Reagan by John Hinckley, Jr., the "Hinkley" name was edited out, covered over with sound effects, or later dubbed over with a change to "Hanley" for the remainder of the short season (with the word "Hanley" even appearing on Ralph's classroom door in the final episode of the season, if memory serves).
For the premiere of the next season, and all episodes thereafter, Ralph got his original surname back.

I remember absolutely nothing about this series except Starlog magazine banging on about it. I definitely don't remember any screening at all in the UK. Believe me, if I'd noticed it I would have watched it. Just right up my street, but sadly nothing.

Yes I remember seeing this on UK Television on Saturday mornings on ITV - just before midday.
Not sure why? I would have thought this was good enough to have had a better slot.
Always puzzles me as to why more original Mike Post/Pete Carpenter recordings are not available.
The silva screen recordings are very welcome - but nothing is quite the same as the original artists version.
Reckon I would be walking on air!

I like how they have tried to include realism in Bill's job but here they just suspend it to drive this plot forward. Bill still requisitioned the money properly, so the serial numbers are logged and there is a paper trial. Would end things pretty quickly.

In this revealing episode, we learn some stuff about the aliens and suit, including the suit is fireproof and bullet proof even when Ralph is not wearing it, so that means all this time Bill saying the suit is useless without Ralph, is not entirely true. Now we know Bill or anybody else can put it on and be bullet proof and fire proof (at least the suit, that is).
I must say I am deeply disappointed by the inside of the ship and the aliens.

The only good thing about this episode, discounting Post/Carpenter of course, is all that cleavage action, but we don't get that until about 35:00 minutes in. Thankfully that includes Connie.
It's also the weakest score in the series thus far. If I were compiling a set of scoring from season three, I'd only include the cues with asterixis aside them.
These last two episodes Ralph has noticeably gotten better at flying.

Oh, good God. A promising mystery kidnap episode just went south so fast. And for no discernable reason; no plot relevancy, doesn't drive anything, and appears to be for nothing more than a short very mediocre fight at the end. There is so much this show could do with the premise of a real life superhero and F.B.I. partner, but yet they make this???
The "vibes" thing has sure changed. Began as something you had on or with you, to anything the person owns, and the vibes used to fade and not be readable, but in here at one point he gets vibes like a day later.
I've come to realize I really enjoy character actor Dennis Lipscomb. He was also briefly in "Wiseguy", as I recall. He sadly died in 2014.
"More to the point, Mr. Maxwell, I am tlking about the scientific manufacturing of human beings."
Bill: Oh-OOOHHHHHH, yeah right, okay, well," chuckles, "Yeah, I got it now. Yeah, sure. You're nuts, that's all. Unfortunately, it doesn't make sense his boss isn't still on Bill about the two-way communicator. We saw Counselor remember seconds after Ralph would use his suggestive power on his and other times people only forgot things after the suggestion; everything else prior is remembered, so Bill's boss should recall everything.

Noted inaccurately as a season three episode on IMDb.
"The Greatest American Heroine"
Three years later in 1986 a revival pilot was attempted, wherein the cast came back and the green guys decided the suit should go to somebody else since Ralph's identity was now public. Surprising it took so many years for a superhero who neither wore a mask nor disguised his voice.
Trivia on IMDb says this was originally intended as a come-back for the series, but the actor who portrayed Ralph was too busy with the Perry Mason TV movies and so it was re-done to introduce a new lead, which wasn't liked. Info' online says it was added to syndication, indicating it may not have aired as a special but as a defacto re-run.
Mike Post and Pete Carpenter were back for the score and the song was kept, as well as the instrumental end credits music. It was one of the last projects Carpenter worked on with Post before passing away about a year later.

Over-all faithful to the series, even in remembering passed jokes like Ralph breaking Bill's hand twice in the first season, and loosing the instruction book twice. And thankfully most of it is spent on the original cast, saving less than half of it for the new female lead, who is irritating and not engaging at all. When the smart little girl is more fun to watch and listen to than the new lead of the show, you know you got a problem.
Counselor: "Oh, well, I remember when Ralph was chosen, it was because you guys were looking for someone with a strong moral character, a healthy idealism, altruistic nature and true integrity, right?"
(pauses)
"Not Bill."
Ralph: "Ah-ah, excuse me! Ahum, about the instruction book."
Alien Leader: "We've given you two already, Mr. Hinkley; surely you haven't lost it again."
Ralph: "Ahhh, no. No. Of course not. But ah--"
Alien Leader: "Good, because we have no more to give."
Bill: "You picked a skirt!"
Holly: "That's what you're gonna appreciate about me, Bill: I'm never in a bad mood."
