I listened to the sample and I'm now listening to the original track from 1992, and wow this new one is a heaping, steaming piece of garbage!
If I really concentrate, I can hear some trace of the original in Wallfisch's new one, but it's so full of other clashing, random noises that I couldn't really call it the same theme. Maybe the full version will be an improvement over the sample, but I doubt it.

Gotta say the new Techno Syndrome is pretty disappointing compared to the original. I don’t know what’s off about it. The new Shao Khan voiceovers aren’t as good, there really isn’t any rhythm to it like the original, it sounds more like house music now and less muscular. I just don’t get hyped as the original.
No Johnny Cage!? Liu isn’t the main character? Questionable decisions.
I’m going to stay optimistic. Wallfisch’s BR 2049 is one of my favorite scores in years.

It is different, and new - to me is sounds like they used BT's stutter edit 2 software on it. I think it will grow on me. The Techno Syndrome version from the original film will forever be iconic and associated with that film, and I'm fine with that.

It definitely does sound like Stutter Edit 2. It is new, and I’m excited to hear the rest of the score.
Don't agree, likely falls in the category guilty pleasure.
Wallfisch is a tremendously agressive score, big orchestra and choir (was recorded in Australia), and abrassive electronics (like in horror scores, but to emphasize the violence and brutality of the movie and some very interesting 80s synths) and taikos and japanese flourishes.

Very strong score
Agreed. Really enjoying actually.
And not forget the use of the Techno Syndrome in various points in the album, very intelligent use of it.
Not talking about music itself even (some nice stuff is there), but mixing of orchestra and electronics is this score is just all over the place and quite horrid.
Just listen to "The Tournament" (especially first 2 minutes). It's like I'm listening to it on the cheapest car stereo.
