Knowing was a hit when it was released in the spring of 2009, starring Nicolas Cage as an MIT astrophysics professor trying to decipher a prophecy of numbers that eerily predict worldwide disasters. Directed by Alex Proyas (The Crow), the film features Cage in a race against time with the entire human race at stake.
Reuniting with Proyas from I, Robot was composer Marco Beltrami, who provided Knowing with a powerful score at turns suspenseful, terrifying, pulse-pounding and action-packed. Recorded with a large orchestra in Australia, the score also has poignant emotional moments and a grand scope befitting the film’s apocalyptic implications.
Knowing was released by Varèse Sarabande as a single CD at the time of the film. This 2CD Deluxe Edition nearly doubles the playing time, and features new liner notes by Daniel Schweiger incorporating interviews with Beltrami and his co-composers, Buck Sanders and Marcus Trumpp.

Never even heard of the movie but I've become so addicted to complete releases of movie scores (since they used to be rare) that I'm inclined to buy this...
...BUT I look at that cheap original poster art and it's like it wakes me up from the film-score-addiction, saying "some movies are just really bad!"
Don't know if it's true, but Nicolas Cage IS in the movie so it can't be that great...
Outrageously stupid film accompanied by one of Beltrami's most accomplished scores. And at 66 minutes the original album made for a solid listen.
Totally agree. I HATED the film (saw it in theater, in the hopes of a great Beltrami score, which I got at least). The score isn't quite Hellboy but is top 10 Beltrami for me so I am fully on board with this significant expansion.
But Knowing does have one of the all around hilarious moments in film when Nic Cage's character tries to get the attention of a screaming man running away from a plane crash … who is on fire.

I’m also not really familiar with Beltrami - I just know him from Scream and The Faculty I think.
But this release is kind of like that recent Brad Fiedel release “Serpent and the Rainbow” and Goldsmith’s “Looney Tunes” both of those have kind of annoying ugly cover art that is deterring me from them - since I don’t know either movies I don’t have much else to go on...

If it’s the Deluxe Edition banner placement that bugs you, you should know that’s not how it looks on the package (it’s put on the rear inlay to peek through).
This score is fantastic. From the New York constant building of suspense and urgency to the grand finale. Stupid film for sure, but like many of Goldsmith's stupid films, we got a marvelous score out of it.

I've heard several stupid reasons as to why not buy a soundtrack album, but this one easily takes the crown
