Ho-Leeeeee Shit. Brilliant news. Been wanting a spruced up version of this score for years. And I have an old tape with an alternate version of Follow Me that sounds so different from the one that was used. Thanks Triple L, you got my money

Don't think I've listened to this one in the past 25 years. More sentimental mush from the Spielberg/Williams tag team.

Apart from this being an absolutely brilliant and underrated gem from John Williams, capturing the tragedy, grief and sadness of the characters perfectly, while offering some beautiful/ethereal musical soundscapes of the afterlife, it's also one of my most prized scores on a personal level. I got with my girlfriend in 1990 and this music was one of my main soundtracks of that time, underscoring my thoughts and feelings while our relationship blossomed. Over 30 years later and we're still as happy together now as we were during those early days. So it really has been ALWAYS

Thanks Ed Good point about the synths use. Although I always (sorry) think PRESUMED INNOCENT or SLEEPERS feature heavier synth use. What do you think?

Well, those came out after Always, and he said this (1989) was the best since Heartbeeps (1981)

I vaguely recall reading that there's around 10 minutes of score in the film that wasn't on the LP/cassette/CD (how did the LP sound? It would have run nearly 70 minutes to cover the songs and score!!). I bought the cassette first, cos the CD came a bit after if I recall correctly. But there is also music on the album that wasn't used in the film (most of The Old Timer's Shack, if my memory serves). And there are also alternate versions of some track(s), like the aforementioned Follow Me that I have on a tape. Can't wait to see the track list myself. The score on the CD totals around 46 minutes. I'm REALLY excited about this release

I've seen quite a few people mention this score as perfect 'tranquility/relaxation' music and it's obvious, with those long lined melodies and washes of strings and harps, how it creates a wonderful, dream-like state. It's soothing music for the soul.
