“Here we go again! Two new CD Club titles are coming this Friday, with clues coming later in the week as usual.”

One will probably be a Goldsmith. I love Goldsmith, but it's hard to get caught up when there's a new Goldsmith every week. And it will probably be one I just spent a lot on too.frown

Varese already set a record with Goldsmith being half of each of their three 2021 batches so far. A fourth Goldsmith Deluxe Edition in a row would be even more unprecedented, but these appear to be crazy times for Goldsmith releases... at this rate maybe they WILL expand all of their Goldsmith perpetuity titles in a timely fashion! Visit this slightly-outdated (because we've gotten Deluxe Editions of Looney Tunes, Along Came a Spider, and now Lionheart) thread to imagine the possibilities (with nice custom artwork!)

But this Goldsmith nut is gonna say: other composers deserve some love, too! Here are some we've been hoping for:

Since we've had so many Goldsmith releases lately, I'll say it's not this time.

Now watch one of these be another Goldsmith title.

The Omen deluxe would be nice... after all it has been 15 years yesterday since it was released.

I ROBOT is a must have...
ditto BLADE 2, SCREAM 3, FLIGHT OF THE PHOENIX among ton of other stuff.

But I guess we'll get either MR BASEBALL deluxe or any other mediocre score expanded by 12 seconds first.

I’m not a full-on Goldsmith nut (though I do love NIMH and Wind and the Lion), but I fully agree with this statement. In addition to my usual requests for Eye of the Needle Deluxe and some of the Herrmanns from the box set at a reasonable amount (that Journey reissue sold out before I was even aware of it), I’ve become quite curious about Forever Amber after reading Craig Lysy’s review over at MovieMusicUK.

I'm never tired of more Goldsmith, especially in Deluxe fashion, so keep releasing them.

Leviathan - complete!!

Lokutus, don’t forget that Varese already uplifted their Omen deluxe edition to the 40th anniversary ‘nearly totally complete this time’ edition only 6 years ago.

All that’s missing now is about 5 seconds from the end of the The Altar, the replacement ‘demonic dog’ cues (which weren't Goldsmith anyway) and that whispering voices track for the dog creeping round the house, which I assume is lost because it's missing from the isolated score track.

If there's any hope of a sound improved Damien—Omen II, or a ‘fully complete this time’ The Final Conflict, I’d be up for those, for sure.

Cheers

I keep saying Varese should do a complete Omen scores anniversary box set along the lines of LLL's complete Planet of the Apes set, or their own Nightmare on Elm Street franchise box set.

They could premiere "The Altar" from the original The Omen, without the crossfade and in proper chronological order. They could have Mike Mattesino or Chris Malone repair the damaged film tracks of Damien: Omen II with modern tech (the previous Deluxe Editions were over two decades ago!), and they could finally expand The Final Conflict to complete form (there are four cues missing on the old Deluxe Edition).

And I would suggest they go beyond the Goldsmith and include the complete recordings of Jonathan Scheffer's Omen IV and Marco Beltrami's The Omen (remake), since I believe they control both of those in perpetuity as well. Maybe neither of those would have Goldsmith-level sales potential on their own, but I do think they'd add a lot of value to (and increase sales of) a definitive complete franchise box set... maybe if not this year, in another few years for the 50th anniversary of the entire franchise?

He's talking about the fine Beltrami score for the remake, also controlled by Varese in perpetuity. smile

Don't get me wrong guys, I'm always for a new Goldsmith release, but lately every time I buy an expensive one it's re-released days later.

Oh man I would LOVE this as it's my favorite Raksin score. I wouldn't hold my breath though because we've heard the original album sold terribly for Varese. There was a Twilight Time Blu-ray with isolated score track which had a bunch more music, but alas it preserved film edits and so is apparently missing big chunks of music that were recorded but got edited out of the film.

I suspect if Varese revisits any Golden Age titles they control in perpetuity, it'll be more Herrmanns. So weird that they didn't go beyond Journey to the Center of the Earth when that reissue sold out 500 copies in less than a day. I'm someone who missed out on their epic Herrmann at Fox box and I've always regretted it.

Eye of the Needle (film tracks) is one of my greatest wants, too.
