Upon release of the new Quartet Panther box set I realize I only own Lifeforce and Victor Victoria. What are everyone's favorite Hank releases? Breakfast at Tiffany's, Charade, Silver Streak and Touch of Evil would be my favorite non Pink Panther movies of his.

Hi Tom! LIFEFORCE, DAYS OF WINE AND ROSES, SANTA CLAUS, THE HAWAIIANS, NEWHART, MR. HOBBS TAKES A VACATION are all great too.
I'm not sure if I understand the question correctly, but I would suggest for anybody to get the 9 disk RCA box set if you do not yet own it. It's sad that there isn't a second one to cover the remainder of his RCA catalog.

Oh shizz, that's still in print. Great tip. Thanks.
If you want something instantly melodic and catchy, I'd suggest SUNFLOWER (I GIRASOLI). I actually think you cannot choose a wrong edition here, but the most complete was a 2CD version including both score and original soundtrack album.

If you're looking for a Mancini starter pack, HENRY MANCINI: THE CLASSIC SOUNDTRACK COLLECTION is a great release, especially if you can nab it on sale:
A great value for EIGHTEEN essential classic albums! You get: Breakfast at Tiffany's; The Pink Panther; Hatari!; The Great Race; Two for the Road; Arabesque; Me, Natalie; Who Is Killing the Great Chefs of Europe?; The Return of the Pink Panther; Charade; Oklahoma Crude; What Did You Do in the War, Daddy?; High Time; Experiment in Terror; Darling Lili; Gunn; The Party; and Visions of Eight. Some of them have since been expanded, or the film tracks released, but these are Mancini's original album presentations, and they're a fantastic representation of his work. (Do be aware that this is a "cardboard sleeves" release, no jewel cases.)
The Thorn Birds The Glass Menagerie The White Dawn The Molly Maguires Lifeforce (even in a really bad sci-fi/vampire film he managers a really catchy main theme) Wait Until Dark Experiment in Terror
Peter Gunn is classic
I love the title themes from Charade, Hatari, and Arabesque but the source don't do it for me.
Who's Killing the Great Chefs of Europe? is delightful.
Probably forgot to mention a few.
Not a fan of his really cute stuff, which is mixed in with a lot of great tracks on his RCA soundtracks.
Oh, and the score CD of Breakfast at Tiffanys is a must because it contains the main title version of "Moon River" with Tommy Morgan on harmonica and lacks the chorus singing the words, plus some fantastic melancholy cues of the classic song.
