There will probably be a trailer during the Super Bowl this weekend. That may have more info.

Please let it be John Powell.

Funny thing is Ewan McGreggor still looks a lot like he did at the end of Revenge of the Sith when in all actuality he should now look the same age as Alec Guinness.

When is this supposed to take place? Right after he dropped Luke off as a baby? Or 20 years later at the time of ANH?

And if it is sometime in between, he is at the perfect age.

StarWars.com reports that the events of the show are set 10 years after Revenge Of The Sith.

Also as long as we are on the topic of SW and age, think about this.

In the prequels, Anakin was, say, 25? Twenty years go by before we get Episode 4. And only a few years go by between Episodes 4, 5, and 6. Let's be generous and say 5 years. That makes Vader 50ish when he dies. BUT the actor playing the unmasked Vader was 80 year-old Sebastian Shaw!

Well according to wikipedia's dates he would have been 77 when RETURN OF THE JEDI was released but because his scenes would likely have been filmed the previous year let's say 76.

And in the film I'd say he doesn't look a day over 50. Especially with those digitally-removed eyebrows.

My point being, regardless of when the show is supposed to take place, Ewan is currently the age Alec’s character was in the original Star Wars.

So age aside, he shouldn't really look like Ewan MacGregor at all, but rather Alec Guinness at this point. That will be a conundrum for the ages, as the two don't really look anything alike.

This was one of the (many) problems I had with the prequels; Lucas casted his actors way too young.

Well, since Guinness is long since dead, I'm thankful they at least retained MacGregor in the role and not recast again. It's good for continuity. Also, as a supporter of the prequels, I'm very happy that the new films and TV shows acknowledge their existence through a multitude of references.

But yeah -- the 'transition into Alec Guinness' aspect of it all is now rather weird, i.e. if the events of A NEW HOPE are "right around the corner" in this new OBI WAN show.

A NEW HOPE would be a decade in the future of this show. But I agree it's wonderful to have MacGregor back. He was outstanding in the prequels.

Personally, I'd love to see a glimpse of Liam Neeson in this series. That would close a few holes in the narrative.

Agree with both your comments here Ed!

No composer announced, but rumors are it could be John Powell

I don't know where those rumors come from or if they are wishful thinking, Powell would be perfect for this considering how great SOLO turned out...
McGregor was in general considered as a bright spot of the prequels (at least in II and III) even for those who did not care for the movies - I thought he was terrific. Deborah Chow made one of the best Mandalorian episodes if my memory is correct, so I have hopes for this.
Although I must say I would have preferred to see the return of Obi-Wan in a movie theater, frankly.
I wonder if it will mean that the scale of the score will be much smaller than, say SOLO.

I just searched around some and couldn't find a Powell rumor.

But I'd take so many composers over him, including Joel McNeely.

That would be insane! Sure hope this is legit, but I doubt it.

Don't give in to the dark side. A very reliable source (not a Bothan) told me the same a few days ago.
