After the cancellation of the 2020 and 2021 concerts due to the pandemic, the James Horner Film Music Association is pleased to announce that the 2022 concert will take place! smile

Its title: James Horner - The Emotionalist - The Concert

It will take place in Szcecin, Poland (2 hours drive from Berlin) on May 13, 2022.

On the program: James Horner’s most famous film music but especially the two concert pieces Spectral Shimmers and A Forest Passage which have not been performed since 1979 and 2000 respectively.

A moving 20-minute tribute video divided into 3 parts will be shown between the music pieces. It was filmed in Calabasas at the composer’s home with his wife Sara and daughter Emily.
Other surprises are also planned.

All the information is available by following this link: http://jameshorner-filmmusic.com/may-13th-2022-james-horner-the-emotionalist-the-concert/

For those who can’t make it to the concert, a big surprise awaits you in the article.

You are allowed to talk about the surprise in the following posts, it’s just that I wanted 1 or 2 people to go read our article. big grin

WOW!!!
SPECTACULAR!!!
I'm IN for the CD, Book and DVD editions.
His Violin piece received its UK concert performance premiere in my city of Liverpool, with Horner in attendance.
I hope this Horner concert can make its way there too!
Can't wait to finally hear Spectral Shimmers.

Great work, jb-martin! I really hope the concert will come to a city nearer to me, for instance Budapest? Or at least Prague or Vienna.

Looks amazing.

Will things like the book, CD, DVD be generally available or only to Patreon members ?

Thank you for your enthusiastic comments!

I hope you will enjoy the concert from one of the seats in the hall or from your living room.

Several orchestras had made contact before COVID. So we hope that contacts will resume now that the pandemic seems to impose fewer restrictions.

All finalized projects will be available to all. smile

This is incredible stuff!

As a massive Horner fan - I've been listening to his Amazing Spider-Man score for much of the day, as it happens - this truly is an event to look forward to.

I'll also give the event a big shout-out on my YouTube Channel to help spread the word.

Many thanks for making this spectacular possible for all of us to savour.

Cheers

I love the "James Horner Film Music Association" logo... Because it's just the transcription of the "danger motif" ! Great sense of humor and of self-mockery ! big grin .

Thank you so much for the announcement. I had a ticket for the original date but somehow missed the new date. Thankfully the new date is just perfect for me as I have a flight from Berlin anyway on the 15th. So I just stay for another day in Szeczin which I have always wanted to visit (my mother was born there).

I got a good seat and look forward to a wonderful concert.

I'm certainly up for a CD of the unreleased music, and might also be interested in the book. Not sure if I can help via Patreon though, my help would most likely have to be by purchasing of the final released products.

This will be a fun watch. I wonder why the concert works need an arranger? One would imagine Horner fully orchestrated them himself?

Adjustments to accommodate minor differences in orchestra size (1 vs 2 harps, for instance).

Both the concert works only existed as handwritten scores, which meant a considerable copying job as well.

For those who want to watch/stream it live I thought supplying you with a link may be useful.

Tomorrow Friday May 13th will be historic! Two Oscars, two Golden Globes and six Grammy awards are just some of the many prestigious laurels James Horner has won for his phenomenal music. We will hear selected compositions performed by the Philharmonic Orchestra in Szczecin conducted by Torodd Wigum. One of the pieces that will be performed, Spectral Shimmers, has not been heard in 40+ years and was performed only once in Indianapolis Indiana. Another piece, A Forest Passage, has not been heard in over 20 years.

The concert will be streamed on YouTube, link below. The concert partner is James Horner Film Music Associaton. We were honored to have helped in a tiny way. Everyone who worked on this have said repeatedly it’s a labor of love.

WHEN TO WATCH:
7PM (UTC+2) Central European time
6PM London time
1PM the American East Coast
10AM the West Coast
