There have been 6 so far, with a two-parter to come in the near future. Brian DePalma got the ball rolling in 1996, with his big, bulky reboot feature. John Woo followed up, with slo-mo and doves. JJ rebooted the reboot, as is his wont, before Brad Bird continued the high-jinks. Then Chris McQuarrie took over the reigns and has been in control ever since. Score-wise, Danny Elfman (replacing Alan Silvestri) produced a brooding, noodling stealthy score, which had some high points, but has never been a favourite of mine by him. Zimmer came next, with his trademark sound n synths, before Michael Giacchino delivered a two-fer for A(brams) & B(ird). Joe Kraemer gave forth a spectacular retro-orchestral Tour De FRANCE for film number 5, before a fall-out on Fall Out led to the anti-Christ getting the gig for 6 (and seems to be in the driving seat for the next two films...sigh). So, my rating is thus... 1 = MI5 ROGUE NATION (Joe Kraemer) - fantastic/thrilling orchestral bombast in a 60s/70s sound style. 2 = MI3 (Michael Giacchino) - another exciting orchestral effort, with great symphonic ostinato tracks and tense suspense cues. 3 = MI4 GHOST PROTOCOL (MG) - more of the above, with some Russian choir for added effect. 4 = MI (Danny Elfman) - low-key, tense, brooding stuff from DE, which does get pretty damned exciting towards the end, but is all a bit too little/too late for me. 5 = MI2 - I remember some okay tracks from the Zimmer score, including a nice guitar Love theme (?), but I'm not that well familiar with the score or film overall (saw it once...didn't like it). I'm gonna leave it there, cos I hated the Balfe effort when I watched the film (it actually distracted me and ruined some scenes while I was sat in the cinema). So, what are your ratings?

I pretty much agree with your ranking, Kev! But to be fair I haven’t heard the expanded version of the Elfman… Yavar

I enjoyed them in the context of the movie, but have not given them a listen as music.

I have only seen/heard 2, 3 and 4. I loved Zimmer's score for 2, especially the tracks Injection and Hijack. As expected, I did not enjoy Giacchino's scores for 3 and 4.

Kraemer's ! Not only a fantastic MI score, it would also make for a terrific Bond-score !

The complete score? No, the regular one. You'd have to talk to others about the complete business. Oh I forgot, you dont like having as much as possible from releases How could you forget? It's practically stickied to the top of the board!
