Too bad he didn't get to write the official music for the Queen's funeral!

Oh, how I'd love to hear that... (seriously)

He did write music for the late queen's husband, though.

Anyways, great to see him receive this honour, even if -- like his longtime collaborator Spielberg, who is also knighted -- he can't call himself 'sir'.

I believe Ennio was an Italian knight, although I’m no authority on European heraldry.

Not being able to call himself 'Sir', but is that correct? For example, Bob Geldof and Terry Wogan both regularly got referred to as 'Sir'. People maybe just call them it anyway?

I think, but I may be wrong, that he would be allowed, if he so chose, to put the letters 'KBE' after his name. Whether he would care too I don't know.

This is correct, I'm pretty sure. As happened with Andre Previn, KBE.

Ennio Morriconne has been awarded "Cavaliere di Gran Croce Ordine al Merito della Repubblica Italiana" in 2000

Sir Terry had British citizenship. Bob should just be Bob.
