released as a Soundtrack/Score until many years later?

I remember really wanting Goldsmith's MAGIC, PLAYERS and RAGGEDY MAN after seeing those films on first run in the theaters and being so disappointed when they didn't have a Soundtrack Release. But eventually and thankfully we did get them all.

What scores did you want the most on the film's release that didn't come out as a Soundtrack/Score back in the day, but were eventually released?

MAGIC Film Released 1978 - Soundtrack Released 2003 by Varese

PLAYERS Film Released 1979 - Soundtrack Released 2010

RAGGEDY MAN Film Released in 1981 - Soundtrack Released 1991 by Varese

There were of course a number of films I first saw on TV whose soundtracks I looked and longed for, but which weren't released many years later, such as LAWMAN and SCORPIO and WIZARDS.

But films where I wanted the soundtrack when they were originally released but which we're released until many years later include:

GREMLINS
EXPLORERS
GHOSTBUSTERS
INNERSPACE
They all had soundtrack releases so truncated, I considered them basically "unreleased" until FSM and Intrada and Varèse released their sets. I didn't even bother to pick up some of the original soundtrack releaes as I found them seriously lacking from the outset.

Then there were films where I really wanted the music with no original soundtrack release at all. I even searched for many of these, as back it was very difficult to even find out if something had been released.
WOLFEN
48 HRS.
BLADE RUNNER
UNCOMMON VALOR
SPACEHUNTER: ADVENTURES IN THE FORBIDDEN ZONE
*BATTERIES NOT INCLUDED
WARLOCK (That one actually had a soundtrack release, but I was unable to find it anywhere back in the day, so I assumed it had none.

MASQUERADE (John Barry) was a good example for me.

Can't really think of an example off the top of my head, because a) experiencing the films are, and were, rarely a conduit for desiring a soundtrack, and b) when I got into soundtracks in the early 90s onwards, what was on my radar was mostly mainstream things that already had a release, so it was only a matter of seeking them out. Plus most of what I bought was 'blind buys' anyway.

It must have happened a few times over the years, though.

Back To The Future

Might have had less than you wanted, but 12 minutes of score isn't exactly 'unreleased'.

Yes, but the cues on the album aren't in their film versions. Note the glaring ostinato flub in the suite.

Seriously, the 1980s was a time when any old pile of crap could get a soundtrack. Example.

And yet Predator, Die Hard and 48 Hrs. were all soundtrack-less in that decade!

Though 12 minutes of a 50 minute score isn't exactly "released" either. That was just basically the "theme" music and the end credits. I know I never even bothered with getting BACK TO THE FUTURE until Intrada released it, as I considered it "unreleased" as well.
