Really digging it. I just rewatched the first film yesterday and I still think it's a masterpiece. I think the score works really well in the movie but as a listening experience on CD I'm still on the fence. But I do like those two cues.
Thanks, Jason. Really looking forward to the film and score. Here's a clip with score near the end.
GOOSEBUMPS! What. A. Scene!
I adored the first score, played it repeatedly for weeks when it first came out. I spun it again with the Sketchbook last week... and hit repeat once it was done. And I'm listening to the OST and Sketchbook again TODAY because of the Dune 2 preview tracks and that AWESOME extended preview. I cannot wait to see the film and hear the rest of the score! Thumbs up all the way!
Looking forward to hearing how Zimmer expand his themes from the first film. Cues like "A Time of Quiet Between the Storms" using the opening of House Atreides is exactly what I am hoping for. Although I am a bit disappointed that there isn't a new romantic theme.

Dune is one of those scores for me that work quite well in the movie but not as great as a standalone listening experience. The Sketchbook album was much better in that regard. I hope there will be more melodic music in the second Dune movie but considering how the score of the first movie was it's just a tiny little hope on my part... Also, there was not a single movie of Villeneuve with a score I could really enjoy.

I think it looks EPIC and GREAT. We need more films like this, boosting the spectacle of the BIG SCREEN to really enhance the drama and ones involvement in it. I agree about the score serving the film more than the casual listener, but it does create a nice aural ambient background atmosphere when in play.
That first cue is AMAZING! The second cue is a bit rougher to get into, but not bereft of value. Can't wait to hear the whole thing. The first DUNE was one of the top 3 scores that year.

My word.
"I serve only one master, and its name is Shai-Hulud."
This scene is gonna rock in a theater. It reminds me of something like Master & Commander in its sense of scale. It knows when to be quiet; when to just put you into the shoes of the character experiencing this larger than life moment and how scary that is; and when to show the tension and catharsis of those who are witnessing it. March 1 cannot come soon enough.
Zimmer's "A Time of Quiet Between the Storms" was beautiful too. A great first single to release.
