Universal Music Japan will re-release remastered editions of the Godzilla Complete Works (not the Perfect Collection, I got that wrong). If I understand it correctly, the discs will not be released in a box but as single CD editions for Yen 2149 each. Starting in May with Godzilla 1954 and in June Godzilla 1985.

The rerelease does not cover the Millenium series, just the Showa and Heisei series (22 titles total).

I hope the remastering will be addressing the shortcomings of the first Collection release...

Nice! I love that they feature the original poster art on the covers.

Oh man, this is great news.

Not sure I need another copy of the original, but if I'm gonna get the rest, I might as well.

Universal Music Japan will re-release remastered editions of the Godzilla Perfect Collection. If I understand it correctly, the discs will not be released in a box but as single CD editions for Yen 2149 each.

Actually, these appear to be reissues of the 1993 "Godzilla Great Collection" 40th Anniversary series on Futureland/Toshiba EMI, rather than Toho Music's "Perfect Collection". According to the description, even the content of the original booklets will be reprinted.

This is actually a reissue of Futureland's Godzilla Complete Works to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Godzilla franchise. They are also throwing in Kitty Records' single disc release of "Godzilla VS SpaceGodzilla" and Futureland's single disc release of "Godzilla VS Destroyer" for good measure.

Universal Music Japan holds Futureland's catalog (along with other defunct labels), so the original 1993, 1994 and 1995 album masters are likely being used as the sound source. The track lists sure suggest it as they're identical to the original respective releases.

My Godzilla soundtrack collection is sadly lacking, this looks like a good opportunity to me!

Go for it! This is especially perfect for those seeking the original albums. I already have most of them, but I'll probably pick these up too for the hell of it.

I always wanted to pick up those box sets but really couldn’t afford them.
I only have one.

Some of these were 2-CD versions. Any mention of that?

Those were from the Complete Recordings series, with the exception of Kitty Records' two disc version of "Godzilla VS SpaceGodzilla". The Godzilla Complete Works Collection series were all single disc albums. They're fine, but the two disc versions of the Heisei scores are superior.

Strangely enough, "Godzilla VS King Ghidorah" never got the Complete Recordings treatment. There is a two disc release, but the second disc is simply audio from the film. The first disc contains the score, but it has less music than the '93 Godzilla Complete Works Collection release.

Great news. I guess I badgered members of the board incessantly for the Futureland edition of Godzilla vs Mothra for naught.

Indeed. I feel it's a wonderful homage to the original releases, which also feature the poster art for the films (not including "SpaceGodzilla").

Yes. The bold artwork awakens fond memories I have of seeing those movies for the very first time back in the day.

Didn't some of the Perfect versions have some of the scores on more than one CD? I only have the first three or four earlier versions.

If its Futureland then KKVG will be mono only. Toho didn't find the stereo master for that until a decade later.

Will these be available in the US or as imports only?

Well, given it's "Universal Japan" doing this, I'd say you have your answer.
