As far as I’m concerned, as far as specials go, you really only need the ones Craft has released over the past 3 years: A Charlie Brown Christmas It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving It Was a Short Summer Charlie Brown I wouldn't be without the (confusingly titled) "A Boy Named Charlie Brown," from the unaired documentary which MCRE1201 references above. Guaraldi's "Oh Good Grief" album also has some great themes, but is less faithful to the originals (lots of electric harpsichord). I enjoy it, but not as much. There have been a few hodgepodge albums with Peanuts music, often mislabeled and often taken from imperfect sources (two volumes of "Vince Guaraldi and the Lost Cues from the Charlie Brown Television Specials," "Charlie Brown's Holiday Hits"), but they have real highlights, including music from various specials that is otherwise unavailable, but I'm hoping that they all wind up replaced with these far superior releases from Lee Mendelson Film Productions.

Guaraldi's "Oh Good Grief" album also has some great themes, but is less faithful to the originals (lots of electric harpsichord). I enjoy it, but not as much. I had forgotten about this album. I have an unaccountable fondness for the electric harpsichord - and I really enjoy the riffing on the themes. Works so well for this music. And I enjoy the Lost albums too, for all their limitations and curious arrangement. But it's just wonderful to have these expanded releases. I was disappointed for many years at the dearth of albums showcasing Guaraldi's unique voice in film/tv music. Never really expected so much to come out.

You're Not Elected, Charlie Brown by Vince Guaraldi is out today! Available on CD, black vinyl, "Woodstock yellow" vinyl, and digitally. Most of this soundtrack is previously unreleased - a few tracks appeared on earlier compilation albums, but this is the first time the full score from the show will be available, and it's joined by nine bonus tracks of alternate takes. It sounds terrific, with clean stereo sound. All physical releases include detailed liner notes from co-producer Sean Mendelson and Guaraldi historian Derrick Bang. Samples here: https://soundcloud.com/lmfpinc/sets/youre-not-elected-charlie-brown-original-soundtrack-album-vince-guaraldi-2/s-pTnnNeob3uK?si=db099c8874154af0b00ffbb14f091278 Full press release here: https://mendelsonproductions.com/extended_Youre_Not_Elected_Press_Release_July24.pdf There's also a very nice interview about the You're Not Elected, Charlie Brown album on the Cereal at Midnight podcast, where producers Sean and Jason Mendelson are joined by bassist Seward McCain, who worked with Vince Guaraldi on this soundtrack and many other 1970's Peanuts specials: (video) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=csb8NEvhgK4 (audio-only) https://cerealatmidnight.podbean.com/e/vince-guaraldi-bassist-seward-mccain-on-the-youre-not-elected-charlie-brown-recording-sessions-and-new-soundtrack-release/

Anyone have a writeup on the current state of each Charlie Brown soundtrack cd that exists, remastered or not? I would love to have all of them, only one I have is the Craft CB Christmas set, which was great. As far as I’m concerned, as far as specials go, you really only need the ones Craft has released over the past 3 years: A Charlie Brown Christmas It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving It Was a Short Summer Charlie Brown There were tons of older releases of Christmas which were good but made irrelevant by the Craft edition, and one older release of Great Pumpkin which was made with suboptimal elements (including sound effects on some tracks). There are some scattered tracks from other specials on compilation albums. Kritzerland released A Boy Named Charlie Brown but it’s long out of print. It looks like Craft released the shorter OST for that one on vinyl and digital, but not on CD. Thank you for the recommendations. I've been thinking I need to add to my Peanuts soundtrack library, which is heavier on David Benoit than Guaraldi. I'll be adding these progressively through the upcoming seasons. LOL

Enjoyed the samples and will be ordering the new CD today. I particularly enjoyed this witty quote from the link's description: "...your alternative soundtrack to the election season." LOL
