I was so happy to hear about this i had to share. In a recent interview Mark Snow revealed there will be a 4 disc!! compilation of music from the X-Files! and it will released by LA LA LAND! this news made my year.

"In this spring, La La Land records will release a 4 CD boxed set of the X-Files music from the TV shows only. It will have all the shows that I have been nominated for plus probably pieces from episode, I'm sure some of your favorites will be included."

Well, this is not the first time I said this but it is the first time its happened.

I actually fell out of my chair.

I hope beyond hope that some of the great cues from the Truth And The Light album. I love that album but sometimes I want the music without the dialouge.

The Truth and The Light was a travesty of an album. I agree it makes this new album particularly tricky since those early cues were only done half justice. As long as there are tracks from "Paper Hearts" I'll be a happy camper.

Sweet!!

Superb news, only hope that the 4CD set will expand beyond the nominated scores he mentioned, music from seasons 1-3 would be superb, I also wouldn't mind seeing the alternate opening theme (from the Secrets of the X-Files) make the album aswell, as a bonus!!

Great, great news. Finally!
Let's hope most of our favourites are included (and much music from season 6!).

Assuming Mr Snow meant Emmy Awards when he said "been nominated" that would mean the following scores are represented in the set: Paper Hearts, The Post-Modern Prometheus, S.R. 819, Theef and The Truth. I'm sure that between the four discs that it'll be a smattering of everything, ala the Millennium set they did.

S.R. 819, seriously? Didn't that predominantly feature music tracked in from The X-Files film?
There's already a promo with music from The Post-Modern Prometheus, so I hope not too much space is 'wasted' on this one - though it sure is great music. Looking forward to Paper Hearts!

Isnt that what the suite on THE SNOW FILES is?

Isnt that what the suite on THE SNOW FILES is?

And I'm pretty sure the Snow Files isn't the whole Truth And The Light Album.

(Also: Isn't Snow Files "performed" by Jeff Beal or something?)

This is Brilliant! After the marvelous release of Millennium soundtrack, I was hoping for something like this.

And by the way. The snow files cue is a smaller version of the truth and the light album. It cuts out two or three cues and ads a new cue not from the org. album. The one from Jose Chung episode.

Not that track. It's the dialogue album sans dialogue.

Well, I guess it was re-recorded, but it's still the same music.

. The thirty-plus minutes of music from The X-Files is arranged and performed by John Beal, and the selections that can be heard here are generally those that were also on the "Truth and the Light" album released previously (without the dialogue, of course).

Let me shed a little truth and light on the subject matter now that the "cat is out of the bag."

Yes, we are doing a 4 disc set of music from the immortal X-Files. Its still a work in progress. It will cover all 9 seasons and will more than likely feature music from 40 to 60 different episodes. The best cues... plain and simple just like we did with Millennium. There will be no dialog on it.

Its expected to be out in August... maybe September, but don't hold your breath. A project like this takes a lot of time to work on so please be patient. We have a plethora of titles coming out before this one so there is a lot of work ahead for us.

So now that the truth is out there have fun speculating on our approach!

I like the LaLaLand Records...

They are like going to Denny's on your birthday and getting a free breakfast and you order Three Pigs In A Blanket.

The mind boggles at such a task.

I could name a hundred moments of great music from the show and still not have half the stuff I'd like to hear.

The "Snow Files" suite is about thirty minutes long, where TRUTH AND THE LIGHT is (I think) around forty-five or fifty, so it's not everything...but the "Snow Files" suite does include a bit of music not on TRUTH (I think it's a bit of music at the very end, from "Jose Chung's 'From Outer Space'"). Also, I think the performance on "Snow Files" is very well done; Beal did a good job in capturing the "Snow sound" with his performance, so I think it's very much worth having.

As for the new LaLaLand release, well, meh. One short CD is enough of this stuff, right?

OK, I was joking there -- I just figured somebody should say what Thor would have said! Of course this impending release is great news. Bring it on!

well thank you LA LA Land in advance for this. This is definitely one of my most anticipated releases. It looks like a release date is well off as this is a huge task but I certainly look forward to this summer and the other titles LA LA has instore.

Music from all 9 seasons! man this is gonna be great!

Count me in for a copy as well. I have been watching the Birds of Prey dvd set, what about a release of Mark's music from that short-lived series?

While I didn't get the Millenium set (I bailed on the show during it's first season), I'll certainly grab this one when it's avalable. Snow's music is among the few synth scores I genuinely enjoy, and the series is still a favorite. smile
