Amazing!!!! Best film scoring news I've heard in ages! He seems like the heir to Williams among the younger generation, at least to my ears, so this couldn't be more perfect!

Alexandre Desplat will score HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS - PART I And, presumably, Part II. It would be illogical for a composer to do one and not the other, given that, ultimately, the films will be viewed as one whole. The news is almost hidden... you have to search for it! Yeah, and account for the fact that Bettencourt gets the name of the film wrong (he calls it 'Deadly Hallows', instead of 'Deathly Hallows'). And before he gets all hot and bothered, I'm not having a go, merely pointing out an obvious fact. Given the fact Williams will not score it, I have to say I'm definitely happy with the choice. Me too! This film will provide Desplat with an enormous musical canvas, so I can't wait to see what he comes up with.

Oh yeah, bettencourt also wrote in the previous part of the same article that the next silvestri-zemeckis colaboration will be "the corrections", something that was long shelved and he did not even mention yellow submarine, which has been confirmed by many sources as zemeckis' next project. I am afraid it rather makes me think he has problems in getting the facts right, as harsh as it may sound. I would take everything in that article with a big grain of salt and wait for the official confirmation from the usual sources. Furthermore, regarding elfmans wolfman, what i have heard is that conrad pope has been deeply involved in haslingers replacement score and put a lot of effort in it. No word or signs of any kind that elfmans music would be re-inserted.

"Um… you don't think that's just an indication that the music for "Yellow Submarine" will be by the Beatles?" It might be, but thats not the point (apart from the fact that the original movie in fact had a score). The point is that the corrections is shelved and even if we assume that silvestri won't score yellow submarine, its still zemeckis next confirmed project, which leaves the part of silvestri scoring the corrections as unconfirmed rumours. If zemeckis would tackle a live action drama AND a performance capture movie at the same time, then the news would already have been all over the place. Look, all i am saying is you might not want to get excited only to learn that what he promised is not true. Just wait for the usual sources to confirm all that. If they do, fine. If not, it will give me a hard time to figure out why he would make these things up.

Regarding Silvestri and The Corrections, I did say "the team MAY return to live action with a film version of Jonathan Franzen's acclaimed novel The Corrections." Also, I did not put The Corrections in Silvestri's WHAT'S NEXT section; I tend to only list films there that have actually gone into production. I have a very reliable source for both the Desplat/Potter and Wolfman-restored news, and will prominently post corrections (as opposed to "Robert Zemeckis' film of The Corrections") if they prove to be inaccurate.

I hope you wont take offence with the fact that i will wait for a confirmation from upcomingfilmscores or the usual film news websites for these news. And as far as the corrections is concerned, how can you assume that zemeckis MAY return to live action with, out of all his shelved projects, the corrections? Especially when you take into account that zemeckis has said in various interviews that he does not want to return to live action yet (most recently in an interview with aintitcool.com).

I am afraid it rather makes me think he has problems in getting the facts right, as harsh as it may sound. . I really don't think that my remark about the possibility (not certainty) of a Silvestri-Zemeckis-live-action-Corrections movie qualifies as "problems in getting the facts right," unless you have other examples (I did acknowledge and correct my colossal screw-up over ignoring Randy Newman's James and the Giant Peach) to present.

I'm just curious about something... Why you didn't post in Williams "What's next" section the upcoming "The Adventures of Tintin"? It's been confirmed by an official press-release and by Conrad Pope himself. Please, I'm not trying to be rude. Just really curious. And it's bad news that Williams won't score DH1, but maybe... Part 2? C'mon, Johnny, we need something to listen until 2011!
