I hear ya, I was hoping that they were going to put this track on it, I've been wanting just the orchestra version as well for a LONG time.

Wow! Complete film score in stereo AND remastered LP presentation on CD!? This is fantastic. Would be awesome even with just this and we get bonus goldsmith score!!
Will wait to order until I see what Intrada comes out with in the next batch though.

Wow. Just been listening to Wild Percussion and it sounds exactly like the opening of Williams' E.T.

I know Spielberg is said to have directed both films and definitely worked on both, so did he use what was in fact recorded for the Poltergeist score on E.T.? Or did Spielberg like what Goldsmith had done so much that he had Williams replicate it? Either way, I think it adds a further level of mystery to the Poltergeist/E.T. proceedings.

In last 3-4 months I watch discussions about this soundtrack here.
So, I decided to watch a film to understand - whether really it is SO good?
As always, in Russia Poltergeist was shown only on TV, we have no legal DVD...
So I look it on-line... And it pleasant me!
Maybe I order it for New Year (If I can change work to more interesting and highly paid smile )
ps I hope that for 3 weeks all 10000 CDs won't be sold...

Does it really sound exact the same for you?

For me not.

Definitely. I know E.T. like the back of my hand. Not to mention I haven't even heard the whole recording as of yet and there is already a section in the clip that is "exactly the same".

It's exactly the same. Wow!!! I think you hit it on the head especially if Poltergeist was composed first...

Is the LP presentation on disc 2 taken from the original LP masters or mastered closer to the Rhino release? I really hope we have the more lush sound of the LP as compared to the Rhino.
EDIT: I trust FSM's mastering generally so I want to assume the LP presentation was preserved but I want to know for sure.
