I have been listening to John Williams War Horse. IT is a majestic affair. Beautiful and Lyrical.
IT is a loud score, when needs be. But also it is delicate and quite moving. John Williams knows along with Steven Spielberg, how to tug at ones heart.

I know, right? I can't believe we haven't had any threads on this one yet. wink

Maybe this can be the final OFFICIAL "War Horse" thread.

Steven Spielberg FINALLY gets his Cowboys/Reivers-type score from Williams with War Horse. Only took 38 years!! This is a wonderful score. So many themes. My favorite appears in the last 3 tracks. Beautiful.

How have you people got this score already? I was under the impression it wasn't released in the US until the end of the month?

Promo albums have been sent to radio stations apparently - and one or more of them have been leaked already.

I placed my order with Amazon.com and didn't get any sign that they won't deliver.

Indeed they are. Pirating John Williams is a little like pirating God. You would have to be pretty low.

Why would radio stations that received promo copies from Sony, with the sole purpose of promoting their product, be assholes for "leaking them?" Isn't that the purpose of a promo?

You can't be serious? The point of a promo is to help promote the album... to help Sony sell their product. The radio station (or host) has no right to upload the album on some torrent or file sharing blog for the world to download for free.

Well, after listening to the leaked tracks and ripping them to my phone, I now want to buy the album to get superior tracks!

Has anyone been able to find this in stores? Here in Canada, the major chain store, HMV, isn't bringing it into my town. Sad, when you can't even find a new Williams release on a major label in stores.

Chris.

Even avoiding the illegal download route, you can still listen to it (and many other new scores) on the likes of youtube and spotify.
It's a good way of previewing scores you may be undecided on.
But for me, nothing beats having a CD in your hands and a disc spinning in your player (aside from the ripped version on your ipod/mp3 player).
