We had also a problem with our son when he was a baby to get him sleep. Mostly we were succesful when playing the CD Laurel and Hardy´s Music Box, Vol.2. However this did not always work...
We used this all the time on children and they were out before it ended! There was only a few times we had to start it over again. My sister-in-law asked for a copy after we got my nephew asleep on a visit.
Assuming it's a good idea to play music, I would make a mix CD of the most soothing cues from various scores.
