So I decided to start this new one. This is about anything that is NOT film (or other media music), NOT classical and NOT jazz. In other words, it's about ROCK, it's about POP and it's about ELECTRONIC music. Perhaps even MUSICALS. And so on. You get the drift. My good friend Thor could pass for a native English speaker, but occasionally - VERY occasionally - his vocabulary can let him down. He says "stuffy" when he clearly means "relevant, exciting, vibrant and not remotely as superficial as 99% of pop music". Easy mistake to make. I might do the same when conversing in Norwegian. But I need my pop music and rock too; and I felt the other thread was becoming too 'occupied' with classical and jazz -- like a dimly lit, smoke-filled room all dressed in mahogany and chesterfield, reeking of whiskey and sweat. I bought five albums in The Original Albums series, lots of great sets in that series, five CD albums for £8-£14 (Cockney Rebel is a lot more expensive now, I think it's been deleted). An album I've been listening to a lot lately, Kevin Ayers 3rd, Whatevershesingswebring, a typical piece of early 70's Ayers genius. I don't know how to bring up the cover. Oh, & two late Sparks albums, Lil' Beethoven & Exotic Creatures Of The Deep.
