As you guys know I'm a pretty mild mannered guy, but piss me off and watch out! I get along with everyone except one jerk from the title of this thread. He's not a manager, he does the exact same job I do. If you don't do things his anal way he yells at you in front of co-workers and customers. Long story short, I snapped at him today. It turns out he's a weasil when confronted. It felt great! But don't you guys worry, I'm the same mild mannered guy I was before, I was just pushed too far.smileDoes anyone here also have a problem with someone from work?

No one should be yelling / giving criticism to another employee in front of customers, or even other employees. If any of my team did that I'd write them up immediately and they can kiss this year's raise bye-bye.

We had one developer who was a complete ass. Since he was senior developer he felt he could get away with his bad temper and shitty attitude with no fallout. he had a habit of not documenting procedures he'd change , then literally scream at my team if they tried to use an old query , not knowing he'd made any changes. Just an unpleasant guy. Finally I had a talk with him and just said, look, I don't care what your paycheck says or what you do, you are going to respect people here, next time I hear you mis-treated one of my team we are going to go to HR, and if you refuse to go, I'll bring them to you and we'll settle this. So, he never mouthed off to my team again. Life is too short to take that kind of bull from some idiot at work

Just try working in a family business where the ignorant 20 something year old sons and daughters of the high almighty owner are spoiled to no end and think their shit smells like a bed of roses.

Been there.

Hopefully the Minnesota Twins will also develop some of that same "badass" attitude you have henry.

They'll need it.

I remember one engineer who used to bring work to us admin's and present it in a tone of voice that always made me feel demeaned.

I finally went to her office early one morning, asked to speak with her privately, and told her the above. I then went on to say (calmly) that I'd been doing my job professionally, and had been addressing her with the respect for her position. I asked her to do the same for me in return. (All very calmly).

She replied, "Sure, yeah, that's fine."

End of conversation. Never got a bit of work from her ever again - a real blessing, I tell you.

Usually this sort of bully backs down once confronted. Sounds like yours was one, too, Henry.

Good for you Henry!

Years ago I was in the same position with a former friend. Same company, of course, but different locations. There came a time we ended up working together for a brief time before I moved on to something better.

Very long story short... I started dating someone that he had dated for... ONE WEEK! But, she had broken it off because he was just a complete and utter idiot. Own worst enemy. Paranoid, etc. Needless to say the friendship fell apart during this event...

We (his ex and I) were out on a date and we had left the club/restaurant late. We were held up and my car was stolen, and I was punched in the face and was a bloody mess. So, I had to call out the next morning/along with her... we had police reports, and I had to go to the hospital.

When I got back to work the day after I called out, he decided to pick a fight with me on the salesfloor. He said I plotted against him and "stole" his girlfriend. WRONG MOVE LOSER!
Do not piss off a Scorpio.

My exact words were this... as I leaned in close to his face, my eyes were slits, my voice was monotone... and I said... "Yeah, that is right you (fill in the spot) loser! I have been plotting for months." He stepped back. "Oh, you thought I was telling the truth? Trust me, I did not give your WEEK long romance a moment of thought. If you weren't such a paranoid loser, maybe you would still be with her!" After I said this, he stepped back and looked like he was about to cry. I informed him to never speak to me or her again. He did not. He soon quit.

Moral of the story... those who throw the stones first, usually cannot take the response AT ALL.

Once again... good for you Henry.

Actually I do. I work in a grocery store and my boss is the fourth generation who owns this store (next year this store will have it`s 100th birthday). I am the only one who works there who is not from "the family". You see my boss' mother works there (my boss' father died a few years before I started to work there so I never met him), my boss' daughter works there, my boss' son works there, my boss' stepdaughter works there and occasional my boss' wife works there (she actually really don`t work there but helps out sometimes).

I get along with everyone except for my boss' mother who apparently thinks that whatever I do I do it wrong and if it is something wrong I am always the person to blame according to her. I really hate that old woman. Sometimes thankfully my boss saves me and defends me.

No offense to your coworker story, but what is THIS? What happened HERE? Did it have any relation to the coworker thing?

Music by Bill Conti, of course.
