What I do find is in boxes of Celebrations and Heroes, they will do some things that I don't think work. It's one thing to do tiny versions of bars, but then... Exhibit 1: Maltesers. Having little bits of the malt flavoured stuff instead of a full malt blob just doesn't work for me. Just make it a big Malteser, or don't bother.

Both Celebrations and Heroes are incredibly boring. The only saving grace is that nobody I know likes Bountys, so I get to mop them up.

Our local supermarket here in SK has now started getting more British stuff. Shaws Bitter Shandy, fruit pastilles, fruit gums, jelly tots, twirl (noice), fruit 'n' nut (noice), and some other stuff. I feel less abandoned in a wasteland now.

If I may chip in as a minor authority on both the Picnic and the Lion bars, I think they’re quite different animals. There are always one or two main ingredients in a chocolate bar that attract me to it, and one of them is usually chocolate, funnily enough. (That may be why I’ve gone off certain products that Kraft/Mondelez ownership/meddling has ruined for me, including [sob] the Creme Egg.) What sets the Picnic aside and slightly above the Lion Bar is the presence of raisins. I’m not sure they have those in all territories. The Lion Bar’s other distinctive ingredient is caramel infused wafer. Maybe that’s two ingredients. Whatever. I’m pretty much with Paul on this one, but I wouldn’t be as emphatic, because I do like a Lion Bar.

Hopefully Boots Heathrow or M&S Foods(?) will be well stocked with Picnic bars, as I cannot find them here.

Any other candy bar recommendations are welcome.

Thank the Chocolate Gods that there were suggestions made previously in this thread.

The good news is that my local Brit food shop has Picnic bars, so I'll be trying one tonight.

The bad news is that my local Brit food shop's lease runs out in May and the owner may retire...

The Picnic bar is a bit "busy" with its vast array of flavors. Don't get me wrong, though: it's fecking gorgeous, and it is now a welcome part of my Brit candy bar "arsenal", pending my local Brit shop's longevity.

At first bite, the Picnic, with its peanut-and-chocolate "introduction", reminds me of our "Baby Ruth" bar, except the Picnic has better-quality chocolate and doesn't shower its consumer with thousands of "exploding" chocolate flakes like the Baby Ruth.

Then, the rice and raisin aspects make themselves known, hwnce the business I alluded to earlier.

The Picnic is still a magnificent candy bar, and one that Mrs. Phelps especially enjoys, and has made known, should I decide to "will" her any Picnic bars I decide I don't want.

I will go against prevailing thread opinion and proclaim the Lion my preferred candy bar of the two, but that should by no means be viewed as a slight to the Picnic (except to militant Picnic fanatics).

Bought a pandemicload of Picnic bars, Curly Wurly bars, and my first-ever Double Decker candy bar.

In addition to those items, I purchased that good ol' standby, Idris ginger beer, as well as a new member of the Phelps Brit products family, Dalston's Elderflower soda.

"I'm gonna get my kicks before the whole shithouse goes up in flames" (the Idris should help with the former and the latter)

Elderflower USA great flavour in everything.

My mate said she was eating a Time Out and I've not had one of those in a decade. Forgot what they're like.

The nougat part was especially nice; it had a cocoa flavor to it that I enjoyed.

I went through a short phase of snacking on these about ten years ago, and suddenly went off them. I tried one again the other day inspired by this thread and while I enjoyed the novelty, I think I'll avoid again. Too claggy for my current liking.

The Double Decker is certainly filling. I wouldn't rate it among my favorites, but I can foresee the occasional craving.

I'm developing quite a liking for the Picnic bar. I could go for a Yorkie bar sometime soon, too.

I thought it was another Brit candy bar; even added it to my list!

The Curly Wurly bar I had today was flavorless. I even tried using it to stir my coffee to see if getting tye chocolate melty would help, but no, it was still blandsville; or, it being a British candy, Blandington-on-sea.

One of the few bright spots of recent months is that my local British marketplace has changed owners, and has brought in a bevy of British foodstuff along with the favorites I've enthused over in the various Britfood topics. smile

Got a couple of Bounty dark chocolate candy bars--they're infinitely superior to "Mounds", their American equivalent. Also picked up my beloved Yorkie bar, Jelly Babies, and Curly Wurly.

I'm still on the lookout for the Jamaica rum candy bar. The new management are keen to take requests on a variety of British foods.

Just found bars of Old Jamaica - from Cadburys/Bourneville - in my local B&M. They're definitely thinner than I remember, though it's been so long since I last had one that I couldn't vouch for it tasting exactly as it used to.

They also had other, thicker (and more expensive) bars called Rum & Raisin, which are basically the same sort of thing, from different manufacturers.
