The reality is here at FSM is that as individuals we get along with some people and don't get along with others. We are not always in sync with each other about whom we enjoy and dislike.

With all due respect, Joan, there is a big difference between out of "sync" and unfocused, purposeless malice.
Your perspective might be different if you, yourself, became characterized as "boils and scabs".

This is the abhorrent man who once told a certain member here that he hoped he got cancer.
That aint out of sync joanie, that's just utter scumbag.

Octoberman, Bill, Hurdy, and Thor, you know you are 4 of my favorite people, and I understand what you are saying. I have been boiled and scabbed by some members, and I don't like them at all. I guess I just missed some of the posts you all endured.

Thanks, Joan. You're a doll.

The world's a crazy circus--someone should sell tickets.

Life has improved considerably the last few years by not being surrounded by the inmates of this asylum.

Line up, boys...

Unless what has been achieved was it's goal!

Will the real neotrinity please stand up?

"You're gonna be a great writer someday, Gordie. You might even write about us guys if you ever get hard-up for material."

Yes, where IS neotrinity these days? I think he was also Gordon Reeves, right? Very elaborate prose, with pictures and whatnot interspersed. Even gave Howard L in lyrical mode a run for his money.

He was the subject of a premature R.I.P. thread if I recall correctly...

Hey there, this is also a voice of the past! My handle was scoechaser, and my name is Philipp from Hamburg, Germany. I was an avid message board member back in the good old days of film scoring and fsm message board days. Strangely I somehow faded out of here, as life progressed. But I do miss those times deeply and since my mum died two years ago, I feel the heavy need for nostalgia. I have the feeling that in the last years, I have missed a lot od the stuff I had in the past, listening to film music was one of those things, since I didn't have a cd player for like 10 years to listen to my over 4000 soundtrakcs! I just bought one last yearn and enjoy film music again on a new level. Just wanted to say Hi and I missed you guys!

Dan Hobgood? The lone American FSMer who could claim to have an "ancestral home."

I'm here, Jim -- though I don't really get the comment. (That's OK.) Very busy these days, thriving (which is good, especially following an astounding injustice that befell me a decade ago and that still needs additional rectification). Passion for quality scoring still runs white hot, but with favorite scorers/composers relegated to history at this point (and not much that I've found to get excited about in recent years), active discussion about the genre isn't as appealing.

I am still lecturing, etc., about scoring, though, and here is a link to a(n as-good-as-I-could-make) recording that I did of my most recent college lecture, the subject of which was Jerry Goldsmith:

https://youtu.be/gWiK2fdXntw?si=i8O_eUkXChvsGfDZ

(Bear in mind that this was for college students who, as college students, weren't even alive in Jerry's lifetime and who are largely contemplating music in film for the first time.)

Greetings, DH.
We shared many an interesting thread back in the halcyon days.
Man, were we into it.

And hello, scorechaser!

Sums it up pretty acurate!
