I hope to be there, but I have some distant family "commitment" on Friday, which I'd honestly rather avoid. Regarding the human contact priority you mention, Thor, in this case I think I'd rather go the virtual route. But we'll see.
Right, that's enough thinly-disguised attacks on the Spanish side of the family for now. Hey Pedro, if you're reading this, te quiero!
Oops, just realized tonight is the kick-off of Euro 2021. Italy-Turkey at the exact same time our meeting starts. Sorry about that; you're free to have the the telly on in the background - on mute! - to keep yourself updated.
Regardless, looking forward to tonight. Link is the same as usual.
Hey everyone, I was hoping to join, but unfortunately work and life have gotten in the way. Hope you have a great conversation, and I will try to make the next happy hour.
Hung over and tired today, but perfectly controlled drinking yesterday. No sudden illnesses or disappearance acts or anything. I'm very pleased.
Participants included Falkirkbairn, Onyabirri, Jim Phelps (who was in an unusually talkative and spirited mood!), Graham, Thomas, Howard and myself. Range of topics from Bergman & Antonioni (yes, that BLOW UP version is great) to drink types to football to the virtues of San Fransisco as opposed to LA to FSM Messageboard gossip and intrigue. No tour of Onya's bar this time, but we can save that for a later meeting.

ADDED LATER - Ah! I think you were being ironic, Thor. Duh me.
Very enjoyable chat. Looking forward to seeing Onya's Voodoo Room and Safari Suite next time. By the way, I'm glad I couldn't join right from the start. I kept getting a sharp pain in my left eye, then realised that I hadn't taken the toothbrush out of the wine glass! Happy that you didn't see that.

For decades, the health industry has promoted the benefits of oral hygiene, but rarely if ever do they discuss the dangers posed by toothbrushes. I appreciate your shedding light on this critical issue.
I was set to have another meeting next week, actually, but last week, I had water damage in my apartment, and need to move out temporarily for a few weeks while the landlords dry it up and replace the floor. Not sure how the Zoom possibilities are at the temporary apartment, but I'll find out once I've settled in.
Sure, thanks. Meanwhile, we can always keep posting in this thread in regards to its original intent - weekend shenanigans and drinks!
Yesterday, I had a bottle of Camp red wine and some specialty beers. Tonight, I'm having a Falling Feather red wine and a couple of beers. A recent discovery was the IPA version of Duvel. I've never been a big fan of the regular Duvel blondes, but wanted to give their IPA alternative a go (a triple hop citra). It was very "cute", as in "Belgians don't really know how to do IPAs, but adding a sense of pine to an existing and dominant blonde taste tasted surprisingly well, if transparent".
So, hope everyone's been having a good summer. The first couple of months of the autumn are always very busy for me (and probably others), and I have plenty of upcoming challenges and tasks ahead in September and October. But let's try to re-ignite our meetings.
The next meeting will be in one week from now -- on Friday, September 17, at 21:00 (9PM) Oslo time.
