I'm hoping the upcoming release of the new live action Aladdin will prompt its LC release as well. I can't imagine there being a better time.

At this rate, I wouldn't be surprised if the series got pseudo-canceled again. It's been something close to a year since B&tB.

I have no doubt more release are coming, it's just that it seems like these are very low priority at Disney at the moment with so much other stuff going on. I think it's just making the releases a bit more exciting when they do eventually come out. I still haven't picked up Robin Hood yet.

Well its been seven months since some anonymous character signed up to post a supposed track list for "The Rescuers". After someone accurately posted the track list for Robin Hood before it was announced I thought for sure this was coming.

Anyway, the long wait between releases is really annoying and the zero amount of communication from Disney about this series is really frustrating.

Agreed. Especially as this series is easily one of the greatest things to come from Disney Records in ages.

Hoping we hear more soon.

For kicks and giggles I emailed them at Disneymusicemporium.com and asked if they planned on any future releases in the series. I know the chances of getting a straight answer are slim to none. But giving it a try.

It's odd they haven't committed to doing this whole series. The old 1990s CD series hit basically every classic as part of a clear strategy. The Legacies look to be the last word on these films, classic or renaissance. At least as concise, individual releases. Strange they wouldn't do each one systematically and be done with them.

I think there is no clear strategy or concept behind the series. It's just there to cash in. If Disney had wanted to "close the book" on all the titles released thus far, they would have included all unreleased music, demos, related recordings available. Some of the more recent titles are major improvements over their original releases, but the classic titles leave a lot to be desired. It seems basically like the 1990s series plus a few bonus cuts to open people's pockets and then again - when the next edition with another bonus track here or there comes around.

I think there's no clear strategy behind Disney anymore. They're so bloated with bureaucracy I don't imagine there's any clear vision within the organization much less sticking to one they've already started.

Right, of course it's to cash in. But it's strange they wouldn't go full out in order to do so. They're not making any money from an Aladdin Legacy Collection that doesn't exist. And to be fair I understand there may not be much better they can do with the (much) older films. But it's really unfortunate they didn't start out doing this with a game plan to finish the series and, as you say, really close the book.

I wish they had just let Intrada and other labels handle this. They have been done right and included all the extras that can be provided (minus tapes issues, rights, etc.).

I have the Mary Poppins and the Beauty and the Beast and they are quite good, the Poppins is very comprehensive, even recordings of meetings etc. I love both of these scores, very nice.

For real! And we know Disney isn't giving Intrada Mulan or the other major classic titles at least not for the near future roll eyes

No complaints with B&TB, Pocahontas, and Robin Hood. While Mermaid is complete they messed up on some of the tracks. (though easily fixed if you drag corresponding cues from the OST) I'm happy with The lion King though some say they messed up on that one. Sleeping Beauty could have been expanded but they didn't. I guess its a mixed bag as far as what was released and quality of the release.

How they didn't release an expanded edition of Aladdin when the current live action film came out is beyond me.

I disagree about Mary Poppins’ Legacy Edition being comprehensive. Aside from an extra disc of demos and the album overture, it’s exactly the same as the 40th Anniversary Edition. Additionally, it’s still missing a decent amount of material, most notably Bert’s “Comical Poem,” which helps set the tone of the story.

Sleeping Beauty could have been expanded but they didn't. I guess its a mixed bag as far as what was released and quality of the release.

That one especially infuriates me to no end, just knowing they had all the material for the complete score, plus the Full soundtrack album for posterity, and instead reissuing the previous edition and only adding a few demos.

The way Disney (appear to) feel about the CD format, I highly doubt these will ever get a release as CD's.
More likely vinyl and digital.

Generally true, but they marketed them as "collectors items" with new custom artwork by Lorelay Bové. So I see no reason not to continue the series for the "collectability" aspect. I imagine this series would've never gotten the green light without the special packaging arrangement.

They are marketing vinyl too, so I cannot see them dropping the CD's in the collectible lines, I am pretty sure they make money off this stuff, how much, beats me.
