I'm hoping the upcoming release of the new live action Aladdin will prompt its LC release as well. I can't imagine there being a better time.

Agreed. Especially as this series is easily one of the greatest things to come from Disney Records in ages. Hoping we hear more soon.

It's odd they haven't committed to doing this whole series. The old 1990s CD series hit basically every classic as part of a clear strategy. The Legacies look to be the last word on these films, classic or renaissance. At least as concise, individual releases. Strange they wouldn't do each one systematically and be done with them.

I think there is no clear strategy or concept behind the series. It's just there to cash in. If Disney had wanted to "close the book" on all the titles released thus far, they would have included all unreleased music, demos, related recordings available. Some of the more recent titles are major improvements over their original releases, but the classic titles leave a lot to be desired. It seems basically like the 1990s series plus a few bonus cuts to open people's pockets and then again - when the next edition with another bonus track here or there comes around.

Right, of course it's to cash in. But it's strange they wouldn't go full out in order to do so. They're not making any money from an Aladdin Legacy Collection that doesn't exist. And to be fair I understand there may not be much better they can do with the (much) older films. But it's really unfortunate they didn't start out doing this with a game plan to finish the series and, as you say, really close the book.

I wish they had just let Intrada and other labels handle this. They have been done right and included all the extras that can be provided (minus tapes issues, rights, etc.).

I have the Mary Poppins and the Beauty and the Beast and they are quite good, the Poppins is very comprehensive, even recordings of meetings etc. I love both of these scores, very nice. I disagree about Mary Poppins’ Legacy Edition being comprehensive. Aside from an extra disc of demos and the album overture, it’s exactly the same as the 40th Anniversary Edition. Additionally, it’s still missing a decent amount of material, most notably Bert’s “Comical Poem,” which helps set the tone of the story. Sleeping Beauty could have been expanded but they didn't. I guess its a mixed bag as far as what was released and quality of the release. That one especially infuriates me to no end, just knowing they had all the material for the complete score, plus the Full soundtrack album for posterity, and instead reissuing the previous edition and only adding a few demos.
