Hey, Jeff Bond greatly expanded his liner notes for these. As he’s the foremost expert on Star Trek music in the world, I’d say that’s more than enough justification to buy these even if you have the big box set. Yavar Count me as another "fool" that purchased these volumes even though I own the box set. I love Star Trek and its music that much. But yes, it was those expanded notes from Jeff Bond that ultimately decided for me.

According to the LLL email, there are less than 100 units of Volume 1 left. We're about to be right back to a situation where some fans missed the bus! That's crazy. I hope the TOS original soundtracks go back up on iTunes after these have sold out. They should be available in some form forever. All 12 LLL-edition volumes of Lost in Space have been maintained on iTunes. Star Trek should be too, when the CDs are gone.

So I have all 6 volumes of the LLL releases and I have the 3 GNP volumes. Is there anything vital I will be missing? All GNP Vol. 1 really needs is "Monster Illusion" added to "The Cage," and then Kirk's big fistfight with Mitchell added to WNMHGB ("Hurry, you haven't much time"). That's two cues, which you could record as DVD sound clips, or consult with friends about. (In case this is helpful, "Monster Illusion" is the cue with a heartbeat rhythm and soprano vocal. It was reused in "A Private Little War" for the poison cure, and "Wolf in the Fold" for Sybo's seance.) "Amok Time" and "The Doomsday Machine" are wholly satisfying as is on GNP Vol. 2. And that's it.
