Been playing Die Another Day a lot lately. I've realized it's actually a perfect summertime score. You've got those lush, oceany cues (Jinx Jordan, Jinx & James), those groovy beats (Kiss of Life, Wheelchair Access, Bond Goes to Iceland), the Latin flavor (Cuban Car), and then all those refreshing ice-themed tracks in the second half (Ice Spy, A Touch of Frost, Skidoos, Iced Inc.). Simply perfect for sweltering summer days.

(Though Michael Kamen's Licence to Kill and Barry's Thunderball make for great summertime scores as well. And there are many other expandable Bonds that are perfect for other times of the year. Just saying. wink)

Newsflash!

Grumpy golden age fans dislike modern Bond score!

Story at 11

News update:
It is 2018 and people are still complaining about the use of synthesizers
in film music!

Sorry, as much as I enjoy signatures I have a personal rule against paying extra for them. Something about it just doesn’t feel right to me. I’m sure, however, I’ll have the opportunity to meet Arnold one day at some future concert and I’ll be sure to have my DAD booklet with me then.

Just rewatched this film.

I tell ya' , the first part of the film - up thru the sword fight in London- is quite good indeed.
The early scenes in Korea and Hong Kong are terrific and Brosnan brings some real acting chops to the story (the claim that Craig 'saved' the franchise by bringing realism to the role is nonsense).

Then, the film goes to Iceland and .... well you know the rest frown.*

I miss Pierce. He WAS James Bond!
brm

* admittedly, seeing Pike and Halle duke it out in flimsy outfits has its charms wink

Hi, I've owned the expanded Die Another Day since it came out and also have the expanded The World Is Not Enough release as well. There are tracks on both albums that mention (Full Mix) in the titles. They are Whiteout on DAD & Pipeline on TWINE. I'm not entirely sure what full mix entails. Is that a standard term for expanded soundtrack releases in general? Die Another Day was my first purchase from one of the specialty labels, so I'm fairly new to these kinds of releases. Does full mix just mean that there were certain instruments omitted or low in volume on the original version of the tracks that are included in the full one? Thanks.

Maybe we should wait while Neil will be here, and could answer this question, but for my ears you already described this "full mix" situation - at least I also hear that some instruments in "album" mixes are lower, than at "full" one.
Good example - from my point of view, piano line in "full" mix of Pipeline (TWINE) sounds clearer, than at "album" mix. I really can hear more instruments details in this version.
