Most of the highlights are accounted for in the samples so we know they're there. Like I said earlier, there's only about ten minutes missing and I doubt it's going to be anything major.

Mainly the softer stuff with Oscar and alternates and inserts, etc. But I have noticed that film versions were married to alternates. For example “Scoleri Bros” track is actually not the angry judge scene that leads into it, with the rest leading into a version of the “ghostbusters to the museum” before going into a section not heard in the film.

I'm also wondering if the Doug E Fresh (I almost said Run DMC again) Spirit stuff is missing for legal reasons.

Saw the movie just once on theaters and it is awful!

Cannot remember a SINGLE note of the score.

I think the "Spirit" theme you're thinking of will be there. That was done by Edelman, and used by Doug E Fresh, not the other way around.

Oh really?! Awesome! I tried to look it up but didn't find anything except the writing credits for Spirit which didn't include Edelman. But I do hope you're right!

Amazon updated the delivery for this - say it should arrive on 8/13. I assume this means that they have it on hand at my local distribution center. Excited for this one!

Didn't know Chris Redfield had a musical career before joining S.T.A.R.S. big grin

There's a "Georfes Delerue" guy credited, also. Weird.
Did Edelman reprised a Delerue tune for the movie or something ?

Note : totally forgot they worked together on Twins. Maybe Edelman used a co-composed piece in Ghostbusters II or a cue from that previous movie ?

So, I got mine through Amazon today, that was fast! Unfortunately I have to say, the soundtrack is really a disappointment. The audio quality is the worst, partly it sounds like an internet audio stream from 1998 and the rest sounds like they ripped it from a DVD. Some parts are fine, especially the quieter and tender parts of the music.

I could accept that, I couldn't stand the mix of the Bernstein score from Sony as well, the Varese is way superior in my opinion. So I didn't expect much from another direct Sony release. But what really hurts is that the court room action/adventure track is completely missing. There is an “alternate version“ of it on the CD, but not the film version. That is really really bad! And it's not that they cut the stuff together for the movie, no, you can hear it's a different version, but it's not on this release. frown

got mine today and i have to concur, it's also very much out of film order which would be easy to fix if many of the tracks weren't strung together into suites disconnected from their film presentation.

it's great to finally have this music, but sadly not a great listening experience.

True, although I don't mind the suite arrangement, since several cues are just a few seconds or just about the one minute mark, so I guess they made it to create a more enjoyable listening experience, so I'll give 'em that. Favourite cue on this CD is "In Liberty's Shadow". Unfortunately the sound of the first half of this track is just awful, the rest of it is actually listenable.

I bet we got whatever was readily available. This assembly looks like what a traditional soundtrack would have been like back in the day if a soundtrack actually came out.

Also, pretty sure with GB2 it was said sources were thought to be lost? Judging from the iffy sound quality in some spots. Sounds like we are lucky to have got any form of release.

Its mostly there though. It looks like Order in the Court does not have the film version ending. But the Hero/Team Theme is scattered everywhere on the soundtrack and that is what everyone wanted.

So my CD showed up a day early. I have only listened through laptop speakers, so I can't judge quality until I listen properly.. I didn't notice anything too bad upon first listen.

But one thing that does stand out... there's so much missing! And what seems to be several alternates upon first listen... I'm happy to hear the parts that are from the film. But I hoped there would be much more. Like I said, was my first listen, and via computer so I could be mistaken on some of this... but first impression - quality is good, but the content is very lacking.

It’s lovely to have it after all these years, but there’s some weeeeird compression going on, and buckets of reverb. But…. If this is what they dug up and all they had to put out, I’m certainly in the “better than nothing” camp, and grateful and glad to add it to my collection.
