Yeah, people like Douglas and De Havilland and Norman Lloyd, I get. But why people in their 80s (and even 70s) are mentioned in a thread about "oldest" living celebrities is beyond me.

When I grew up I thought that 50 was quite old. The reason was that when I turned one week old my own grandpa had his 50th birthday so therefore I always associated that with old age since he was my grandpa but now I am myself almost there, I turn 47 in January and nowadays I think that 50 is not old at all.

60 is the new 40.

When you met him once 20 years ago, Bill! big grin

Actually the website with all this info can't actually confirm he's still alive. So for the moment he's on the 'living' list.

Its true. He said to me "Charley Varrick is at least an 8 rating. Its Don Siegel for f**** sake! Dont listen to that mark or that McGann, they dont know shit." But he said it with a silly exaggerrated french accent.

As of this date there are 70 actors (minus one just recently lost to us) listed here (Part 2 is linked at the bottom of Part 1) who are all 90+ with pictures of one of their prominent roles in motion pictures.

Just had another look at your list, Arthur. There've been a lot of deaths since you published it. Ouch!

Of the 'born-before-1920' performers, 4 from this list are still with us.

1914 Norman Lloyd

1917 Marsha Hunt

1919 Nehemiah Persoff & Marge Champion

Interestingly, Marsha Hunt did "Zzzzz" in THE OUTER LIMITS around the same time in 1963 that she played in "Spur of the Moment" for THE TWILIGHT ZONE.

Curious that both Kirk Douglas and Olivia de Havilland were born 5 months apart in 1916 and passed away 5 months from each other during 2020.

After watching PRESSURE POINT yesterday I checked to see if Sidney Poitier is still with us. He is, and in fact turned 94 yesterday.

And while I was thinking about The Twilight Zone, I checked up on Nehemiah Persoff. He's been 101 for over six months now.

I suddenly focused on the title of this thread - "Oldest Living Celebrities" - so it means we don't have to only mention actors. How about oldest living film directors? Still with us are:

Bert I. Gordon - 98
Peter Brook - 95
Mel Brooks - 94
Norman Jewison - 94
James Ivory - 92
Mark Rydell - 91
Richard Donner - 90
Jean-Luc Godard - 90
John Boorman - 88
Roman Polanski - 87
Robert Towne - 86

Any others in the over-85 club?

Any others in the over-85 club?

I can add a half-dozen:

Roger Corman (1926)
Alain Cavalier (1931)
Michel Deville (1931)
Carlos Saura (1932)
William Friedkin (1935)
Peter Sasdy (1935)

Peter Sasdy (1935)

Of course, my man Friedkin - but I held off on mentioning him because he won't be over 85 until this August. I also could have mentioned Clint Eastwood (born 1930), who is well-known more as an actor and is still heavily active as both actor and director; come to think of it, with his prolific Director resume reaching back nearly 50 years, I should have cited him in my first post today.

You could add Alvin Rakoff (b. 1927), then, if you are putting Friedkin on hold for 6 months ...

[Tinto Brass (b. 1933) is still with us, too]

Just finished reading a biography of his wife, Jacqueline Hill. He was directing UK TV drama in the 1950s when it went out live!

Actor Conrad Janis is 93. He played Mindy's Dad in Mork & Mindy.
