Click-Sounds disappear after a few Tracks on Disc 2. Not happy about them but since they are subtle, I can live with 'em. But really happy about the score. Already have the Promo, but this longer version is much more immersive.

You seem to have mixed-up both threads about this release as well. But as I've already written a few days ago there: there are no clicks in THE SHINING on my end. Neither on disc 1, nor on disc 2. Check your CDs in another player.

Finishing a viewing of DREAMCATCHER, thought I'd post about this set.
First nagging question to go unanswered - wtf was the original album all about? Is the last cue even....I mean, where is it in the film, why was it chosen as the closer?? ...nevermind, I wish the 'why' about how the original album was slapped together would someday be public knowledge - the good news is this deluxe now looks even more enticing to me someday - once it goes on sale & the packaging, skipping issues settle themselves....
Film wasn't awful, about the same when i saw it ages ago, but coming from Kasdan & Goldman, some really amateur scenes & direction. Shame this killed his career, but really, I wonder what the hell happened.
JNH should be hired to score all helicopter scenes in films, forever.

I think it had to do with preparing the album before the score was fully recorded. What’s on the old CD is what he had recorded up to that point - similar to the monumentally disappointing Die Hard 3 album.

Oh, your question won't be unanswered. A bit late, but still... here is the answer. The last cue on the original album called "Pete And Trish" is the second track on the new album called "Finding The Keys". It is heard early in the film in the scene where car salesman Pete finds "magically" the lost car keys of a customer in a puddle. It was probably placed at the end of the original album because it's the final part of the end titles.

I never heard it was one of those 'early completed' albums, nor realize where that final cue for.
Still dying to hear the expansion, I'm sure it plays better then the old CD.

The old album was really fine, except about around five minutes of great music which was missing. For me the stand-out cue was the helicopter attack on the alien base ship. It's now as "I'm That Monster" on the new CD. Massive orchestra, massive percussion and very slight choir.

I think the slight choir part was the reason that this cue was not on the original CD. Perhaps it would have been too expensive back in 2003. But it is terrific!
The other fine inclusion on the new CD is the "disco" or "techno" intro to the "End Credits" (which, after the intro, is a cut-and-paste job of parts from the score).

Have to strongly disagree with this statement, although not a big surprise coming from me. The Duddits material is essential and so beautiful (Toasting Duddits, Saving Duddits, Picking Up Duddits), and the helicopter music is equally critical (I'm the Monster, Military Moves In). That starts off my personal perspective with nearly 12 minutes of music that was criminallly left off the original CD, but I also really like a lot of the other tunes that weren't included as well. I think the original release was good in that the score is amazing and any representation will have some kickass music, but it still didn't come close to capturing the full scope, depth, and bag of tricks the score has to offer.
I'm also in the minority in the fact that I think Military Moves In is actually more exciting and more badass than I'm the Monster. I'm the Monster is more thrilling and epic, but Military Moves In gets my blood pumping like f***ing crazy, it's so intense how it builds to such a cresendo in just over a minute. And to think it's such dramatic music simply for a staredown between Tom Sizemore and Morgan Freeman!

In other news, has anyone received a non-scratched, non-damaged, non-shipping related troubles copy from Varese/Naxos yet? My credit card is still at the ready, but I'm waiting until all main issues are settled.

Thanks to the recent Spring cleaning and the UK shop, I've finally bought this one.
Kinda agree that these four scores together feels a bit random (except of course for the Stephen King connection), but besides that I do really dig this set!
Dreamcatcher in complete form is quite the revelation, almost all of the highlights were missing from the old release.
Firestarter was the score I was least interested in but I actually played that most so far, really a great score.
The Shining is a bit on the long side but definitely a solid score. With it's piano and haunting choir the main theme kinda reminds me a bit of James Horner's more introspective scores. It also contains some excellent horror scoring. Why the heck doesn't Nicholas Pike get more scoring assignments?
After my initial disappointment that The Stand wasn't complete nor in chronological order, the second CD does contain some great cues. Just a shame the ending feels kinda abrupt because it doesn't really a musical resolution.
If people are still on the fence about this one, I highly recommend purchasing it. It really is a wonderful set.
